“Man can live 40 days without food.

3 days without water, 8 minutes without air,

but only one second without hope“(C.Darwin). I think C. Darwin means that hope is very
important for people. Also, hope is very important in extreme situations, because hope
gives us spiritual strength and motivation, which is very important during natural
disasters.
Today I am going to give my opinion about the worst natural disaster and how
some countries prevent them.
Nowadays there are a lot of different natural disasters, like tsunamis, tornadoes,
earthquakes, floods, and more. In my point of view, the worst of them are earthquakes.
Earthquakes can cause tsunamis, landslides, destroy houses, or even cities. 9 years
ago an earthquake in Japan killed more than 20k people. It generated a massive
tsunami that triggered a nuclear disaster.
To predict earthquakes like this, scientists use seismograms. It’s a special device
that is very sensitive and reacts to every vibration. When vibrations get too big,
scientists report it to the country, so people can prepare for a disaster. Also, Japan
builds special houses, which are slightly moving during earthquakes. These buildings
are safe and durable.
In conclusion, natural disasters are very dangerous and it’s hard to deal with
them without hope. I am very happy to live in Lithuania because there aren’t any deadly
natural disasters.
