30th October 2020,

To Whom it May Concern,
May I just begin by thanking you for the amazing opportunity that is to
apply for the internship position within the Federal Bureau of
Investigation at Quantico. This has been a lifelong dream of mine and I
could not be more thrilled to have the opportunity to potentially work as a
member of this esteemed organization within the behavioral analysis unit.
Prior to this, I will have completed my education at Appalachian State
University with a Bachelor of Criminal Justice and a minor in Spanish
communications. During this time, I was also involved in leadership
amongst the criminal justice field, working as president of the
Appalachian State Chapter of the American Correctional Association,
which included the university, state and national membership.
Additionally, I was also a member of the Government and Justice Honors
Society, which is an academic society for students within these majors.

Receiving my education from Appalachian State was extremely helpful in

relation to my desired field of study, as they have a great criminal justice
program, which has paved the way to many student graduates working
within the FBI, SBI and Secret Service, as well as high ranking officials
within local law enforcement organizations. As a member of this program,
students are required to complete numerous courses pertaining to criminal
law, writing within the discipline, corrections, theories and electives
pertaining to sociological or psychological perspectives. Students are also
required to have a semester long internship in order to graduate from this
program.

I have completed all of the necessary course elements, aside from the
internship program, at the top of my class while maintaining a position as

the President of the ASCACA. My electives have included concentrating

towards the sociological sciences in deviant behavior, including women in
crime and sexual violence, which is specialized and has taught me
valuable information that allows an individual to create a clear profile of a
subject in question. I currently do not have plans to pursue a doctorate
degree, but would instead prefer to get the valuable first hand experience
within the field that I believe is necessary to have a full understanding of
the criminal justice field. In the future I will most likely pursue this
avenue, but I would like to take time to work and apply what I have
learned from my time at Appalachian State.

Aside from my education, I also bring to the table my undenying love for
this field. Criminal Justice is something that I have to have in my life
every day and is something that I never stop learning about. Out of the
classroom, there is always a book in my hand about theories or history of
the development of this field and I am always up to date on the newest
developments in cases. This is something I am truly passionate about and I
have no doubt that will be evident in the way that I work if I receive the
honor of working with this organization. This will have my complete
commitment and is something that will drive me to step above and work
hard to prove I have a place within this organization. It would be an honor
to receive this internship.

The resume I have included below includes all of my education and work
experience, as well as awards and leadership experience from my time at
Appalachian State University and high school. Listed below includes my
contact information, as well as my references, which include Dr. Barbara
Zaitzow, Dr. Elicka Sparks and Scott Johnson, who are available if you
would like to request a letter of recommendation. Please let me know if
you have any questions and I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Mikayla A. Hord
