ACTIVITY # 5: MY SELF: AN INDIVIDUALISTIC

OR COLLECTIVE? (20 points)

My Self: An Individualistic or Collective?
In today's society, with the advent of modern digital communication and
an increased focus upon global society and diversity, humans have an
opportunity to evaluate themselves and how they identify both individually
and in their broader culture. For me I consider my self as an individualistic self
because I can choose whatever I want and I have freedom in what I am doing.
The sense of responsibility must be entailed in every actions and thoughts of
an individual, to me. Even though in this society, we are bundled by the law
dictating what we should do, it is important to have individuality, the space for
an individual to breath and make their decisions independently. As a college
student, who pursue dreams and study hard for a better future is essential to
know and reflect my own ability, value and worth for the personal
development and improvement.
At the age of 20, I am not a teenager anymore who is going to follow
what my parents, relatives, and friends decision for me. I must form my own
originality, actions, thoughts, and decisions without the influence of others.
Although, sometimes, to know more or to be a wise decision maker, we have
to consider what others thoughts for self-improvement. The fact that ‘No one
is an Island’, there is this space for considering and accepting others. We
cannot live with ourselves only however, the final decision is within ourselves.
Although there are people who are there to help you, it is you who should
filter, make an analysis, and do the final judgement for yourself. The choices
you made whether good or bad are the responsibility you must face.
