20 POINTS PROGRAMME

INTRODUCTION
◼ In addition to 5 year plans & programmes in
1975 Govt. of India initiated 20 points
programme
◼ Main agenda was for national action to
promote social justice and economical
development
AUGUST 20 - 1986

◼ Programme was restructured


◼ Objective was “eradication of poverty,
raising productivity, reducing inequalities,
removing social and economical disparities,
and improving the quality of life.”

◼ Garibi Hatao (Poverty eradication) – Urban
areas: They deal with “Swarnajayanti Sehhari
Rojgar Yojana”
◼ Subke Liye Awas (Housing for all)
◼ Basti Sudhar (improvement of slums)
