English Language Arts Term 1 Performance Task.

Instructions

Throughout the term, you have been learning how to analyze a literary text. You have
learned how to use the elements of the story to analyze the main events that took place
in a literary work. Therefore, your task for the 1st term is to choose one of the short
stories listed below. You need to read it, analyze it by writing a literary analysis essay
on it, and present your work.

Options for short stories


 “Eleven” by Sandra Cisneros
 “Goodness of Matt Kaiser” by Avi
 “Raymond’s Run” by Toni Cade Bambara
 “All Summer in a Day” by Ray Bradburry
 “Rikki-Tikki-Tavi” by Rudyard Kipling
 “The Ugly Duckling” by A.A. Milne.

A Pdf of these short stories will be posted on the LMS in Week 11, on the Sunday
folder.

Make sure that you write a literary analysis essay, following the guidelines that have
been discussed in class.

Your essay should be types in the MLA format. It should be a min of one page.
HANDWRITTEN ESSAYS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Attached to the instruction
sheet, you will find the rubric for your essay.

The week after you turn in your essay, you will be asked to present your work to the
class. You need to create a PowerPoint presentation as a visual aid for your
presentation. Attached to the instruction sheet, you will find the rubric for your
presentation.

Your presentation should:


- Not exceed 5 slides.
- Not exceed 10 mins.
- Be turned in a day before the presentation.
- Should contain images and appeal to the audience.

Deadlines:

First Draft for the research paper: November 29nd, 2020


Final Draft for the research paper: December 6th, 2020
Presentation Date: December 10h, 2020
