Poetry Portfolio
Over these next two weeks, you will be wrtining five
different poems. At the end of the unit, you will compile
these five poems, along with a reflection of what you
learned in the unit into a portfolio.

Instructions for reflection: Write a 500-word reflection

on what you learned during the unit. Try to answer the
following questions in your reflection: What did you
already know about poetry before the unit? What did you
learn about different types of poetry? What did you learn
about different literary devices? What did you learn
about your own style of writing poetry? Final thoughts
on the unit overall?

Structure: Put poems and reflection in a 1-inch binder

in this order: Haiku, Sonnet, Limerick, Villanelle, Free
Verse, and Reflection. Write your name and class period
on the front of the binder.

Your portfolio is due at the end of class on the last day of the unit.
