Enumerate the different eukaryotic cell organelles and its function.

ORGANELLES FUNCTION
1. NUCLEUS The Nucleus contains genetic material of
cell (DNA) and nucleoli: site of RNA
synthesis and ribosomal subunit assembly.
2. RIBOSOMES The ribosomes are the site of protein
synthesis.
3. ROUGH ENDOPLASMIC The ER is the manufacturing plant of the
RETICULUM cell, and it is responsible for producing
substances your cells need to grow.
4. SMOOTH ENDOPLASMIC The SER helps your cells produce lipids,
RETICULUM including the lipids that form the plasma
membrane and organelle membranes. It
also helps produce certain hormones, like
estrogen and testosterone.
5. GOLGI APPARATUS It modifies protein structure and packages
proteins in secretory vesicles.
6. SECRETORY VESICLES The Secretory vesicles contains materials
produced in the cell; formed by the Golgi
apparatus; secreted by exocytosis.
7. LYSOSOME The lysosomes' job is to digest materials,
breaking down unwanted proteins,
carbohydrates, and lipids so they can be
removed from the cell.
8. PEROXISOME Peroxisomes help absorb nutrients within
your cells and come packed with
digestive enzymes to break them down.
9. MITOCHONDRION The mitochondria are the main sites of
energy production. Specifically, they are
where the last two phases of cellular
respiration take place – and the location
where the cell produces most of its
usable energy, in the form of ATP.
10. MICROTUBULE The Microtubule supports the cytoplasm;
assists in cell division and forms
components of cilia.
11. CENTRIOLES The Centrioles facilitate the movement of
chromosomes during cell division.
12. CILIA The Cilia moves substances over surfaces
of certain cells.
13. MICROVILLI The Microvilli increase surface area of
certain cells.
14. CENTROSOME The centrosome functions as the main
microtubule organizing center (or MTOC)
of the cell. The centrosome plays a
crucial role in mitosis – so much that
defects in the centrosome are linked to
cell growth diseases, like cancer.
15. CHOLORPLAST Chloroplasts are the site of
photosynthesis, the set of chemical
reactions that help some organisms
produce usable energy from sunlight and
also help remove carbon dioxide from the
atmosphere.
