Jimenez echoes “Sounds of 100 Voices”

JIMENEZ, Misamis Occidental – The “Sounds of 100 Voices” echoed throughout the town of
Jimenez during the competition in the afternoon of December 14, 2018 held in front of the St. John the
Baptist Church.

This is the third year that the local government holds this remarkable activity in cooperation
with the Department of Education – Jimenez District under the supervision of Mrs. Sweet Mary C.
Gamad.

Every participating school formed a group of 100 students, implied by the term “100 voices”.
The competition comprises two levels – elementary and secondary, to sing Christmas carols in three
mediums – English, Tagalog and Cebuano.

Four elementary schools and five secondary schools participated in the said contest. Jimenez
Central School came out the winner for the elementary level, while Jimenez Bethel Institute was
declared the champion in the secondary level.

The echoes of the “Sounds of 100 Voices” lasted until 7:30 in the evening that bright and
colorful lights beamed around the area.

After the “Sounds of 100 Voices” was heard, the local government officials led by Hon. Mayor
Rosario K. Balais started the fireworks display followed by the second judging of the inter-barangay
Christmas symbols competition at the Sen. Julio Ozamis Freedom Park.

The activity’s overall chairman is Mr. Roel Luis Abelidas, the Tourism Officer of Jimenez,
Misamis Occidental.
