MENTOR MENTEE- REVIEW FORM

B OVERALL COMMENTS BY MENTOR

a) Problems and concerns raised by Mentee pertaining to study in DISTED
Guiding questions:
1. Can the mentee identify the possible sources of the problem?
2. In what capacity does the mentee expect the mentor’s assistance/guidance?

Dennis did not seem to have much problems and as such, it is hard for me to comment on whether he was actually able to
pinpoint the possible sources of problem for him. Regarding the capacity in which the mentee expected my assistance or
guidance, it was not a capacity that was above my expectation, I will elaborate more about this in the next section.

b) General comments by Mentor

1. Plan of actions (within the capacity of the mentor)

2. Timetable of an agreed workable plan (in general)

In relation to the plan of actions, I anticipated questions from the mentee regarding assignments and academics as well as

checking through of any assignments within my capacity. The mentee could easily reach me via email or Whatsapp and was

free to ask any questions that was troubling him. Contact via email was used first and after that we resorted to contact each

other via Whatsapp as it was more convenient.

MENTOR’S REFLECTION
a) New skills/knowledge gained from the experience
b) Feedback on plan of actions taken
- Would you recommend/reuse the action plan in future?
- Suggest ways to improve (if any)

One of the new skills I gained from this experience was learning to be more proactive. I learned to take the initiative to
ask the mentee if any help was needed instead of the mentee asking me. I think this is something important as some
people may be too shy to ask for help and I’m grateful that this experience has taught me this. I would reuse this
action plan in the future. For improvements, I think building rapport with the mentee is something that can be
improved on as I think having rapport would lead to more open communication between the mentor and the mentee.
