a fairy tale of a little girl and a deadly wolf. This story was taken from the 10 th century of
European and Italian folk tales called ‘The False Grandmother’. The story states that the little
girl wears a red hooded cloak and walks through the woody forest to give food to her elderly
grandmother. The deadly wolf follows the little girl and wants to eat her as well as the food.
The wolf asks the girl where she was going. On hearing that she wants to deliver the food to
her grandmother, the wolf cunningly reaches her grandmother’s house and swallows the
grandmother and disguises himself to be the girl’s grandmother. When the girl reaches the
grandmother’s house she realises something fishy. But the wolf eats the girl also and the story
ends here. This story was written by Charles Perrault. In French version of the same story,
there was a woodcutter who comes to rescue the little girl and the grandmother with his axe
and cuts open the deadly wolf. Thus there is a significance contrast found in the two version
