Praxis Core Exam Analysis

Exam Requirements

The Praxis Core Exam is one of the requirements I must pass to take my Special

Education course at UNLV to continue studying for a Bachelor’s degree in Special

Education. To pass in Nevada, I need to get the following passing scores; Math: 150,

Writing: 162, and Reading: 156. The Praxis is important for my career in education

because it will assess if I have the required knowledge to be an effective teacher.

Exam Preparation

Before taking the Praxis, I reviewed some practice tests and reviewed some

practice flashcards. I have read many questions from the ETS booklets as well.

Additionally, I have done extensive reading on the Praxis and will sign up to take the

exam over winter break.

Exam Results

In Math, I scored in the 93% range, which means that I’m very likely to pass the

Math section when I take the official Praxis Core Exam. For the Writing section, I scored

in the 85% percentile, which means I will be likely to pass. For the Reading sections, I

scored 71%, which means I am on the borderline to passing. However, I think this score

can be attributed to taking the test on my phone because when I took the test on my

computer I had passing scores for the other sections. I am dyslexic so that could also

contribute to a low score on the reading section as the website itself had poor readability

and accessibility with the very distracting watermark of the apple at full opacity.
Future Exam Preparation

To pass the Praxis, I will get a good night's sleep and read the questions carefully.

I fully understand all the topics and material covered in the Praxis, I will practice

perfecting my reading skills as the reading questions on the Praxis are meant to trick you.

Additionally, I will review some of the accessibility features available while taking the

Praxis.
