STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Hailing from a family that has years of experience in business, I have always been motivated
to become an entrepreneur. I always wanted to learn the tricks of doing business in the
technology-driven world and become an excellent management professional. At a young age,
I have discovered my own definition of success: that is the satisfaction in knowing you have
made the effort to do your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming. I have
been an achiever ever since I was young because I work very hard in whatever comes my
way, may it be an assignment, a project or a program organization. I have always looked at
challenges with a different perspective and uncompromised compromise. It has often helped
me excel at my duties and endeavours. Determination was the utmost foundation of my life.

I have always been a devoted student. My parents always emphasized on the importance of
education as not just a means to become literate but also as a path to become more
enlightened. As such, I always carried out my academic duty from time to time. I have never
restrained my knowledge to the textbooks but looked for miscellaneous sources to understand
the pragmatic scope of the subjects I learned. I was always passionate about technology so I
decided to do my bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering likewise I wanted to be a
management professional in the technology domain. I enjoyed working in technology, but it
was more of a hobby and I didn’t see myself being the best technician.

During the four year bachelor program I had a brief opportunity to work in groups for
different projects and during these projects I realised that I was really good at managing a
group and this was when I became fascinated and motivated to pursue a career in
Management and after talking to various people who have worked in management, I
understood that a management degree was essential to achieving my goal. I wasn’t sure if I
had managed the teams well, but I knew I really enjoyed working in such a setting. Working
with different people and getting the job done gave me a feeling of self-satisfaction and I
really enjoyed it. My professors who saw my inclination to work in such an environment
suggested that I do a master’s program in management after completion of my bachelor
program.

By being a part of my dad’s business I understood that I had too much to learn to become the
management professional I aspire to become. I was able to understand the challenges of a
manager’s role; the responsibilities and accountabilities and how a manager must behave in
such a taxing and dynamic business set up. I have observed managers making important
decision, solving conflicts, carrying out negotiations and managing people. I also found that
they were very people-centric and possessed excellent communication and interpersonal
skills that made them excellent communicators and easy to communicate to. I also understood
that my academic experience wasn’t enough and I simply lacked focused academic exposure
in management studies. Having realized that I needed to train myself better, I chose to pursue
post graduate studies in management.
As one of the preferred and exceptional academic destination for higher education, Canada
has always been the priority ever since I sought to do higher studies from a foreign country.
Since it offered plenty of realistic learning opportunities and international exposure, I
understood that it justifies the most important goal of doing my studies in Canada: gain
global exposure and insights. The continuous investment of the Canadian government in
education sector comes as a great perk for aspiring foreign students. However, choosing the
most suitable university was indeed tougher than choosing country. Since most universities in
Canada match each other well, it wasn’t easy at all. However, the global networking
opportunities and the insightful learning experience did the trick for me. I was also convinced
by the focused curriculum of the course and the experiential learning which helped me make
the final decision. I have also learned about the collaborative academic setting of the
university from the experiences of the students from various social media handles of the
university and other online academic forums. Further, the all-embracing infrastructural
capabilities will guarantee that I have every opportunity to grow professionally as well as
personally.

At the end of the course, I would be returning to my country and join the ranks of a leading
company. Since India is one of the fastest-growing trillion-dollar economies of the world,
opportunities for a professional like me are aplenty. With numerous companies as Tata,
Reliance, Mahindra and Infosys along with many others, Indian employment market is ripe
for a professional like me. I would like to gain industry exposure during the first few years in
the short-term. In the long-term, after gaining practical exposure in the field, I would like to
incept a management consultancy company of my own and offer management solutions to
medium and small scale industries of the country at affordable rates.
