3.1. Master data of the installation 3.2.1. Opening the pivot barrier
3.1.1. Technical data of the installation Proceed as follows to perform maintenance works:
(see figure 3.2.1.-1)
Actuation: Tooth holding brake with motor ZB-M
Control unit: ETS 20xs (incl ETS 20-extension boards) • Remove the screws from the front panels (Pos. 1) by means of the screw driver
Connected Power: 95 VA for recessed head screws no. 2
Mean power : 25 VA • Push the front panels out of the fastening clips and remove them
Operating voltage: 250 V/AC • Unplug the ground cables at the front panels
Control voltage: 24 V/DC • The maintenance opening (Pos. 2) is now accessible
• Switch off power from the installation (unplug mains plug)
Options: parallel control panel
serial control panel
Installation of traffic lights on both sides, max. 2 traffic lights Figure 3.2.1.-1

Installation of a push button
Maintenance work should be performed every 500.000 passages, but at least once
per year.
The following tools and utilities are needed for the maintenance: Pos. 2
Unscrew the screws (Pos. 1) by means of the 8 mm Allen Key. Remove the rotation Pos. 5
head (Pos. 3) completely. Unscrew the screws (Pos. 3) by means of the 8 mm Allen
Key. Remove the supporting plate and the mechanism, turn the mechanism by 30-
40° during removing (see arrow). Pos. 4
See to it that the 4 rubber damping strips (Pos. 5) are at their position Pos. 3
when being remounted.

Caution!
The distance between the two disks of the tooth holding brake (Pos. 1) should be
0,4-0,5 mm as shown in figure 3.2.3.-3. (measuring device : feeler gauge).
In case of a wrongly adjusted distance the tooth holding brake with bearing (item no.
: 93348) must be replaced. To remove the mechanism see 3.2.2.-1, check if the
toothing is weared or corroded, spray with oil if necessary (item no. : 11537).
Caution!
Please use only the spray oil mentioned above, otherwise the tooth holding
brake could be adversely affected by sticky deposits.
Pos. 1
The poud (Pos. 3) and the locking bar (Pos. 4) should turn freely on their arbor Pos. 2
(Pos. 5) as described in figure 3.2.3.-4.
Oil with spray oil (item no. 10605) in case of difficulty in turning. Pos. 1
Pos. 3
3.2.3.4. Checking the leaf spring Pos. 4
Check if the leaf spring (Pos. 6) shows signs of corrosion or cracks, replace if nec-
essary(item no. : 92951). To do this, the rotation head with the locking bar must be
removed (see figure 3.2.2.-1).
Pos. 5
3.2.3.5. Checking the release mechanism
Pos. 6
The distance (Pos. 1) between the release mechanism (Pos. 2) and the poud at the
rotation head (Pos. 3) should be 1,5 mm (measuring device : feeler gauge) as de-
scribed in figure 3.2.3.-4.
In case of a wrong distance, the mechanism must be removed (see figure 3.2.2.-1),
the fastening screws must be loosened as described in figure 3.2.3.-5 (Pos. 1).(The Figure 3.2.3.-5
release mechanism can be adjusted only in a very narrow range of ca. ± 0,25 mm)

The bearing of the rotation head may not have a noticeable sideways play as shown
in figure 3.2.3.-6.
In case of play, the tooth holding brake with its bearing must be replaced (item no.:
93348).
Clean the outer surfaces with cleaner for stainless steel, to buy from Kaba Gallen-
schütz GmbH in Bühl.
For cleaning, please use a soft cloth or a rag and the cleaner for stainless steel men-
tioned above.

If the drive and locking unit as shown at right is built in your pivot barrier, only a com-
plete exchange of the tooth holding brake is possible in case of defect (item no.
93297), because the tooth holding brake is not available as a separate spare part.
Caution!
The total connected power of the ETS 20 XS inclusive the IO board may not
exceed 80 W.
