The king felt thirsty. He took out his golden cup to scoop some water from the
stream. When he was about to quench his thirst, his pet eagle knocked the cup out
of his hand.
The king patiently picked up the cup and scooped water again from the stream.
Once again, the eagle knocked it out of his hand when he was about to drink from it.
The king was furious. He tried to kill his pet but missed it. He followed the eagle
which flew upstream. There, he saw the body of a dead buffalo. He realized that his
pet eagle was trying to save his life.

Question 22

Read the story below and answer the questions that follow.

Long ago, there were two friends who were farmers. Their names were Abu
and Ali. They were best of friends and neighbours too.
One day, when Abu was planting a tree he found a wooden box buried deep
in the ground. He opened and found jewellery in it. Abu told Ali what he had found.
He said, “You are my best friend. I plan to share half the jewellery with you.” Ali
replied, “ I’ll take the box home and take out my share. Then you can have the rest.”
Back home, when Ali and his wife saw the jewellery, they became greedy. Ali
and his wife imagined what they could do with the jewellery. After dinner, they
opened the box once more to see the jewellery. To their surprise, the jewellery
suddenly changed into worms. Ali thought Abu played a trick on him.
Feeling angry and disappointed, Ali and his wife took the box to Abu’s house.
As they came nearer, they could hear Abu and his wife talking about their good
fortune. Ali and his wife became angrier. They decided to climb up the roof. Through
a hole on the roof, they emptied the box of worms onto the couple’s heads. As the
worms came down, they changed into jewellery.
