Counter-arguments:
1. There is currently sound evidence that smoked marijuana is harmful.
2. Marijuana smoke, like cigarette smoke, is an irritant to the throat and lungs and
can induce a strong cough during use.
3. Marijuana carries a risk of addiction and violence.
Summary:
Medical Marijuana is taken for medical purposes that can treat diseases or
conditions. The long-term effect of its use by individuals with health and/or age-
related vulnerabilities, such as older adults or individuals with cancer, AIDS,
cardiovascular disease, multiple sclerosis or other neurodegenerative diseases, is
little established.
Part C
Legal marijuana is used for the treatment of a host of indications, some of which
have evidence to support marijuana treatment and many of which do not. To ensure
that it is used safely and that patients will benefit, doctors should educate patients
about medical marijuana. Marijuana itself has over 100 components that are
involved. The chemical that induces the "high" that goes with the ingestion of
marijuana is THC (which stands for tetrahydrocannabinol). There are also concerns
about negative impacts on both individual and public health and whether
legalisation would lead to higher youth use of marijuana.
In the treatment of drug abuse, medical marijuana usage among adolescent patients
is very common, suggesting significant diversion from registered users. These
findings support the need for policy reforms protecting against the diversion of
medical marijuana and reducing access to diverted medical marijuana for
adolescents. Future research should explore patterns of diversion and usage of
medical marijuana by adolescents in the general population.
It's not used to treat illnesses or to cure them. Using it will not affect a certain
disease's result. But it can relieve certain symptoms, make you sleep better and
make your quality of life better.Until the early 1930s, when states started enacting
drug laws instigated by racial anti-marijuana propaganda, marijuana was
commonly distributed and used as a patent medication in the U.S. When marijuana
was listed as a Schedule 1 substance, the societal construction of marijuana as one
of the most unsafe substances was completed in 1970. In recent years, marijuana in
some states has been legalised for medicinal purposes by ballot measures, even
though under federal law it remains illegal.
