Dear Harlandale ISD Family,

It is with tremendous sadness that I inform you of the death of a Harlandale ISD student. Angel
Jerry Yanez was killed last night according to police near Harlandale High School. Our deepest
condolences are with his family and friends.

The loss of a student is extremely difficult for us as a district as we care for these children as if
they were our own.

Special counseling services have been made available to students and staff during this time of
loss. If you know of a student or staff that needs additional counseling support please do not
hesitate to contact the Harlandale Care Center at 210-989-5247 or the corresponding campus
counselor or social worker.

We will not be commenting any further on Angel’s death out of respect for privacy to his family.

We ask that you keep his friends and family in your thoughts and prayers as they grieve this
tragic loss.
