VPC MT-50 CM2 Mod
VPC MT-50 CM2 Mod
VPC MT-50 CM2 Mod
Having some tactile feedback or even gates or locks, when entering high boost, afterburner,
reverse, idle or shut off adds to the immersion when using HOTAS hardware for flightsims.
This is why set out to modify my newly purchased Virpil VPC Mongoos MT-50 CM2 throttle.
2 M6 10 or 12 mm Ball Plungers
3 M3 30 mm screws
4 M3 18 mm screws
2 4,5 mm dia, 20 mm long springs. I got mine from cheap ballpoint pens.
The printed parts will look a little rough. That’s a trait of the fused filament layered printing
process. Some sanding and use of filler and then a can of spraypaint will tidy them up
considerably, but requires some effort. This does nothing for the function of the parts, just their
looks.
A word of caution! The screws that you need to remove in order to fit the arc part hold distance
nuts on the inside of the throttle. These nuts holds cable bundles. You will need to unscrew the
bottom plate of the throttle and make sure these nuts engage the threads of the new screw. This
may void the warranty! You will have to decide for yourself. If you don’t feel comfortable opening
up the throttle; don’t do this mod.
A modification like this isn’t entirely plug and play. You need to be able to handle a screwdriver
and posess basic building skills.
This mod is offered for free. Do whatever you want with the object files. The copyright remains
mine, but if you want to print and sell to others, you have my permission to do so. Just don’t hold
me responsible for your transactions.
A big thanks to Virpil VPC for making awesome controllers and for helping me with measurments
for this project.
In order to utilize this mod fully, you will need to make some software changes to the throttle. I will
add instructions for this later.
Have fun!
Installation.
Start by removing these screws. Use a M3 thread tap or a screw to cut threads into
the inner clamp parts.
Put the inner pieces of the lever clamps in place. Pull the levers apart and put the arc in place. It may
require some wiggling, but it will fit.
You will need one 30 mm screw and one 18 mm. I ended up attaching the aft nut again, but I didn’t
Both M3. If you want to attach the forward nut on tighten it all the way as I thought this would put too

Attach a 30 mm screw in the forward hole and a 18 Check the height of the screws and adjust the

the holes in the thick outer parts. This will make it the trench.
