Kappa Kappa Psi Brotherhood and Membership Event Catalog

The Kappa Kappa Psi Fraternity is an honorary band fraternity in charge of providing
service to the band or bands of their local colleges and participate in the band program to the best
of their ability. The brotherhood has many membership and recruiting events to keep a good
relationship with potential membership candidates and also brotherhood events to keep
relationships within the fraternity strong. This is a catalog of potential brotherhood and
membership/recruiting events that can be used to help build up relations between students
throughout the campus. These are to be used sparingly throughout the years to only when
absolutely necessary. While not all of these can be used in one year, proper timing and
advertising of these events can They are categorized by what semester they can be held in and
whether or not they can be held inside or outside.

The first main category of event is membership events. These events are held in order to get to
know the potential candidates and invite them to participate in a Kappa Kappa Psi Interview.
While doing this, the fraternity’s members can also get to know the candidates better and see if
they are deserving of being in the group. Not only that but they can emit a positive message on
the fraternity. These consist of social events that are open to the entire public and can help
encourage those to be interested in the membership process of becoming a brother of the Kappa
Kappa Psi Fraternity.

Membership Events
Inside
Name of Event: K-K-Psi Que-Queso
Description: An event where potential membership candidates can come and get to know the
current members of the Theta Kappa chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi and enjoy some food. During
the event, brothers will be asking people who are interested in joining to sign up for an interview.
The event is usually held in a local church common room that is rented for the evening and the
theme of the food is usually Hispanic.
Needed Supplies: Queso Ingredients, Other Hispanic Food Items, Silverware, Dishes, Chairs,
Tables, etc.
Steps Needed to Host Event: 1.) Decide who is in charge of getting the queso, other foods, etc.
2.) Find a suitable location to host the event. 3.) Advertise the event to the band members. 4.)
Have Brothers be available to serve food to the people that come and be polite as they do so. 5.)
Clean up after the event and keep the area as clean as when the event started.

Name of Event: K-K-Psi Informational

Description: An informational would be a good idea to keep a good relationship with both
potential membership candidates and the rest of the band. It could be used to give potential
members an idea about what the fraternity is about and what it stands for while also doubling as
an informational about certain fundraiser ideas and ways that the fraternity can help the band
program.
Needed Supplies: N/A
Steps Needed to Host Event: 1.) Announce to candidates about the event 2.) Send out a zoom
link OR set up a meeting time and location 3.) Open the floor to questions about the fraternity
that doesn’t break the bylaws of the constitution. 4.) Give your own presentation on what plans
and projects that the fraternity will be partaking in this semester/year.

Name of Event: Kappa Kappa Psi Concert

Description: The Kappa Kappa Psi Concert would be a show of the collective skill of the
musicians in the fraternity. The concert would consist of a number of ensembles with each
playing an average of 3 pieces. It would be held in the auditorium of the Fine Arts Center with
the Director of Bands and Dean’s approval. The Concert would be a nonprofit event.
Needed Supplies: Assorted Instruments (Whatever is required), sheet music, music stands,
performance chairs, and printed programs for the audience.
Steps Needed to Host Event: 1.) Decide who will play in an ensemble and how any ensembles
there will be. 2.) Rehearse Privately for a set amount of time based on the difficulty of the piece
3.) Print Programs with information of the ensembles and the music they will be playing for the
performance. 4.) Prepare the Auditorium for the Performance 5.) Assign Staff to work the event
such as a ticket distributor, announcer, and ushers. 6.) After the concert, rack and stack the chairs
and stands on the stage and leave the stage spotless.
Outside:
Name of Event: S’more About K-K-Psi
Description: S’more About K-K-Psi is a membership event that potential members can attend
during fall semester when it gets colder. It offers another chance to have brothers get to know
potential candidates and answer any questions that candidates have about Kappa Kappa Psi. All
while enjoying s’mores and hot chocolate in the local park.
Needed Supplies: Graham Crackers, Chocolate Bars, Marshmallows, Assorted Beverages (Hot
Cocoa, Soda, Water, etc.), Cooking Utensils, Grill/Campfire
Steps Needed to Host Event: 1.) Find a suitable location to host this event. (Usually Stephenville
City Park) 2.) Assign ingredient responsibilities to certain members. 3.) Advertise event to band
members. 4.) Fill drink dispensers with beverages 5.) Bring all supplies to the scheduled
location.
The second form of events that can be held for the fraternity are brotherhood events. In the past,
brotherhood has not been as much of a key aspect of the fraternity as it should have. So, these
events are to help bring that aspect back by just having some fun with other members and rebuild
the trust and friendship to those in the fraternity. They are mainly silly competitions ore late
night hang outs that can help build relationships between individual brothers as well as in the
whole fraternity.

Name of Event: K-K-Psi TableTop Game Night
Description: Game Night is pretty self-explanatory. It is when the current members of the Theta
Kappa chapter get together and bring the games they want and spend a good portion of the night
playing games and enjoying each other’s company. Members can bring whatever games they
wish and see if others would join them.
Needed Supplies: Playing Cards (Normal Cards, Cards Against Humanity, Bad Apples, etc.),
Board Games (Monopoly, Chess, Clue, etc.), Assorted Snacks that Everyone Can Enjoy
Steps Needed to Host Event: 1.) Find a suitable place to host and rent it out for the night. 2.) Find
out who is bringing what to the party. 3.) Find out what snacks people can and cannot eat and
buy them. 4.) Ensure there is no kind of gambling taking place in the room during this game
night.

Name of Event: K-K-Psi Banquet

Description: The K-K-Psi Banquet is an annual event that is to celebrate the accomplishments of
the chapter and everyone that has made it through the Road to Wisdom (membership candidate
process). Everyone in attendance must wear formal attire (not black and white tux but something
very nice). The banquet will hold several speeches from the president as well as people like the
sponsor, director of bands, and graduating seniors. All while people grab food and enjoy the
company of other brothers. Afterwards the floor will be open to dancing and partying until the
event is over.
Needed Supplies: Assorted Entrees, Chairs, Tables, Decorations, and Music Equipment
Steps Needed to Host Event: 1.) Find a suitable location to hold the banquet (Ex: Tarleton
Ballroom) 2.) Have the Chapter vote upon what food shall be served at the event (Make it all one
theme like Italian, Hispanic, etc.) 3.) Have the chapter vote on the theme of the banquet (if any)
4.) Have a setup crew prepare the location for the banquet 5.) After the Banquet is over, have the
setup crew clean up along with other volunteers.

Name of Event: K-K-Psi Cookoff

Description: It would be an enjoyable event where brothers would be split into two teams and are
to make the same type of dish to be judged by 3 judges that is up to the choice of the fraternity.
They will have a limited amount of time to make the dish and whoever has won the majority of
the judges’ favor will win the competition. The winner would get a small prize or it may just be
for fun.
Needed Supplies: Assorted Produce, Meats, and other food items (Based on what the main dish
is), Cooking Utensils like spatulas, tongs, cooking knives, etc. Dishes and cutlery, table, and
chairs.
Steps Needed to Host Event: 1.) Find a suitable location where two groups can cook on their
own, uninterrupted by the other. 2.) Acquire the food and utilities that are needed for the
competition. 3.) Assign members from the fraternity into two groups. 3.) Find 3 judges that can
judge the food made. (Most likely the President, Vice President of Special Projects, and the
Parliamentarian.)

Name of Event: K-Psi Cookout
Description: The K-Psi Cookout is usually held to welcome new membership candidates who
have passed through the interview process and allows full members to make a good first
impression towards them. While the food cooks, others usually find other ways to keep
themselves entertained whether it be by talking, playing games, or just throwing the ball around.
When the food is done, all members eat and enjoy themselves for as long as the event is taking
place, all while welcoming the new candidates into the fold of their fraternity.
Needed Supplies: Assorted Meats (Sausage, Brisket, Hot Dogs, Burgers, etc.), Cooking Utensils,
and Sports Supplies (Frisbee, Football, etc.)
Steps Needed to Host Event: 1.) Find out how many people will be attending the cookout. 2.)
Obtain meats and other entrees based on the number of expected people attending. 3.) Assign a
cook to be in charge of cooking the food for everyone. 4.) Find a suitable location for the
cookout. (Usually a park)

Name of Event: K-K-Psi Super Smash Bros. Tournament

Description: This would be a fun casual tournament where people would fight in the video game,
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. This event would need a larger screen where multiple people can
watch and enjoy the virtual battles. The tournament could be a round robin style where others
would climb their way to the finals.
Needed Supplies: Nintendo Switch gaming system, At least 8 Nintendo Joy-Con Controllers, and
assorted snacks and beverages
Steps Needed to Host Event: 1.) Acquire and/or borrow a Nintendo Switch game console,
controllers, and a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. game cartridge from one of the members or close
friend(s). 2.) Select a suitable location to host the tournament (A member’s house or a location
on campus with a large enough screen.) 3.) Acquire food and snacks for the tournament. 4.)
Select the fighters’ order.
Name of Event: K-Psi Movie Night
Description: K-Psi Movie Night is another way to build up the relationships between the brothers
of the fraternity. Just sitting around with others having fun watching some classic movies is a
great way to bond. With assorted snacks, it doesn’t have to be just a movie watching party but
just one where they can just hang out and enjoy themselves.
Needed Supplies: Assorted Movies, Blankets, Movie Projector, Tarp (Movie Screen), Lawn
Chairs, Snacks
Steps Needed to Host Event: 1.) Host a survey to find out which movie(s) to watch. (Within a
specific movie rating anything under rated: R) 2.) Find a suitable location to watch a movie, like
a park or someone’s backyard. 3.) Set up movie Projector ad snacks and prepare for viewer’s
arrival.

Name of Event: K-K-Psi Olympics

Description: This Event would be a series of entertaining and challenging competitions and
whoever succeeds in finishing the task given is given a point. The process would repeat several
times until the competitions are completed and the person with the most points is crowned the
winner. Sports would include,
Needed Supplies: Assorted Supplies based on what events are taking place, Water jugs, Coolers,
and food items
Steps Needed to Host Event: 1.) Vote on what events shall be in the Olympics. 2.) Find a suitable
location for the event to take place, most likely a local park or a members home that has a lot of
property.) 3.) Assign members to buy and bring food and water for the event 4.) Assign teams
(Between 2 and 4)

Name of Event: The K-K-Psi Annual Tag Tournament

Description: The Game would be held throughout the entire college campus. The players would
be trying their hardest to take the bandana that is on the other members person. And each
bandanna that you steal should be exposable to the eye so that nobody just hides it away. The
rules will be decided by the players of the game. The rules should include not interrupting
someone’s class and should not be hindering the betterment of the band or fraternity in any way.
At the end of the game, (likely the end of the school year) the person with the most bandanas
stolen from other members is the winner.
Needed Supplies: Multiple Bandanas (Most Likely Blue), Prize for Winner (Possibly assorted
foods and trinkets)
Steps Needed to Host Event: 1.) Give All Brothers a Bandana 2.) Have each brother mark their
bandanna 3.) Explain Rules of the game to all brothers 4.) Announce the Game’s Beginning 5.)
When the game is over, obtain all bandannas (If not all of them are together, charge a $3 fee to
replace it to whoever’s bandanna is missing.

Utilizing some or all of these events listed in this catalog are wonderful ways to both help recruit
new members and keep relationships and morale high within the ranks of the fraternity. With
these, the Theta Kappa chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi will thrive in the feeling of brotherhood.
