Nearly 10% of healthcare workers at a New Jersey hospital screened for COVID-19 or virus
antibodies tested positive, according to a recent study.

2. Big data and simple models used to track the spread of COVID-19 in cities

Understanding the dynamics of SARS-CoV-2 infections could help to limit viral spread. Analysing mobile-
phone data to track human contacts at different city venues offers a way to model infection risks and explain
infection disparities.

Blame your missing things on elves

In the Philippines, there is an assumption that when items around the house go missing and reappear, this is caused by
dwendes or playful elves. While mischievous, these little creatures are believed to be mostly harmless – aside from the
type that take small children.

ACTIVITY 5

 Elder 1
It is believed that when things around your room or in the house are missing and then it suddenly
reappears, playful elves or known as “dwendes” are said to be the cause. This belief has been passed down to
every children and grandchildren orally that is why it is well known.

 Elder 2
It is very common to be told by an elderly to say ““tabi tabi po” (excuse me) whenever passing through
places where elementals such as “kapre” (giants smoking tobacco), “nuno sa punso” (old men living in anthills)
are most likely to be present. This is practiced so as not to disturb them and would not lead to having
unexplained sickness.

 Teenager 1

nothing to be losed if he followed the belief.

due to how messy her things are and not by playful elves. Even if she was told by the cultural belief about elves,
she doesn’t pay attention to it.

anthills since he heard a story about someone not doing it and suddenly had boils on his face.
