TRANSPORTING THE INJURED ve Transporting the Patient o The purpose of transporting the injured is to remove the patient from any further danger and get them to a proper medial aid facility O Transporting the patient consists of the following techniques: H actions taken prior to moving the patient B lifting techniques H manually transporting the patient § transporting the patient by toboggan Transporting the Patient O Before moving the patient consider: ™ the best method of transportation relative to the injuries B available material, either manufactured or improvised H assistance from bystanders @ the weight of the patient @ the route and the vehicle to be used, and M reception arrangements at home or the hospital Basic Techniques o Human crutch o Fore and aft carry o Two-handed seat o Three-handed seat o Four-handed seat o Chair carry o Drag carry Lifting o Always keep your back straight and lift with the legs when lifting anything heavy. o When a change of direction must be made, turn with your feet rather than rotating your back. o Keep heavy loads as close to the vertical axis of the body as possible.
