Diversity Project Reflection

The diversity project I am interested in is Gender Diversity. Gender diversity is about

gender equality, which contains gender equality in the workplace, equality of sexual

orientation. In the past, a woman wore pants or a man who dressed like a woman are illegal.

What’s more, if you show affection for the same sex, you and your sexual partner are likely to

be executed. These laws have led many people who pursued gender freedom to be expelled

and even be killed. However, after more and more people fight against gender inequality, the

laws about gender diversity in many areas were re-established, nowadays, lesbian, gay,

bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) are legal and are the acts protected by law.

For me, the most impressive video is an interview about racial equality in WKU, which

interviewed a lot of foreign teachers of color intolerant. The opinion in that video benefits me

a lot. No matter what color you are, you have no special rights or inferior to others. Everyone

e is an equal individual. After completing this assignment, my view of gender has changed. I

used to think homosexuality or degeneration was weird, but after a deeper understanding of

gender diversity, I know that it is the right of people, a way for someone to be an authentic

self. It really changed my worldview. Diversity is a universal phenomenon in the world,

although sometimes we can not understand it very much, we should respect the differences,

instead of denying it.

In WKU, there are students from all over the world, so the diet customs of them are

totally different. For example, students from northern China prefer pasta, but southern

students prefer rice. The accent is also different, which is influenced by the dialect of their

hometown.

As a student in WKU, which is a Sino-foreign university, we should learn more about the

world. Not only should we keep up with the national news, but also international events.

Facing the cultural diversity which is different from China, we should show our respect for

diversity, try to understand it, and complement each other. We should be an inheritor and

propagator of culture and contribute to the diversity of the world.
