ELECTRICAL SERVICES

BUSDUCT SYSTEM

Busduct System shall comply with MS IEC 60439-2, pre-assembled, totally enclosed type & insulated
and as specified in the Drawing and / or Bill of Quantities.

The insulation of the busduct shall be one of the following types as:-
 Air Insulated
 Resin Insulated
 Epoxy Insulated
 Polyester Film Insulation

They shall be suitable for operation on a 415V, 3-phase 4 wire, 50Hz system with solidly earthed
neutral. The rated short-time withstand current, Icw shall be tested for 1 second as specified in MS IEC
60439-1. The Busbar conductor shall be of high conductivity aluminium & shall consist of circuit
protective conductor in accordance to BS 7671.

The housing of busduct shall be of galvanized sheet with epoxy coating. Fire-resisting barriers shall be
included as an integral part of each busduct length. Unless otherwise specified, the degree of protection
shall be IP65 in accordance to MS IEC 60529.

The plug-in / tap-off unit shall be mechanically interlocked with the busbar housing to prevent
installation or removal of tap-off unit while the switch in ON position. Tap-off unit enclosures shall
make positive earth connections to the busduct housing before contacts are made with the busbars.

Expansion joints shall be provided for every interval of 3000mm at maximum, and at the end of busduct
end box unit shall be provided. Busduct joints shall have sufficient contact length of adjacent sections
so as to provide rigidity and strength. A spring material shall be used in jointing so as to ensure a
constant contact pressure. All joint units, tee and elbow units, offset and combination elbow units,
flanged end-feed units, expansion joint units and end joint units for the busduct system installation shall
be the type manufactured and supplied by the same manufacturer.

The busduct system shall be supported rigidly and adequately by external spring hangers mounted on
channel base. The busduct system shall be supported at maximum intervals of 3000mm for vertical runs
and 1500mm for horizontal runs so that the busduct will not be in contact with the wall or floor slab
surface, unless otherwise specified in Drawing and / or by Manufacturer. The spring hangers shall be
supplied by the Busduct manufacturer.

The floor openings and wall openings where busduct passes through shall be sealed with fire-resisting
barrier approved by Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia (JBPM), according to the appropriate
degree of fire resistance.
