I Used to Think, Now I Know

As educators, I used to think that we are limited in what we can do for our students. I

believed that there was too much red tape and too many metaphorical hoops to jump through to

get things done that truly matter. This was discouraging as I believed that it would lead to a high

burn out in my chosen field of study. I want to enact effective change and implement measures

into my classroom that positively impact my students and their future. Now I know that is

possible. In taking this course, I discovered that we discussed many topics that I thought I had a

good understanding of. While that is true, I had never previously connected those thoughts to

mine as an educator. Throughout this course, I had the opportunity to research learning theories

and discover which ones most closely align with my ideologies.

On top of that, I was able to use multiple different applications to make slideshows,

interactive platforms, videos, screencasting, video recordings, creating a blog, and creating a

website. In doing this research, I was able to write my Philosophy of Education and take the time

to reflect on the things that I want to implement into my classroom and exactly what type of

teacher I want to become. These things have had a lasting impact on my views of what being an

educator looks like, and I cannot wait to get into the classroom and start implementing the

lessons that I have learned into my planning.
