Plant Reaction in Exposure To Various Liquids Which Affect Their Growth
Plant Reaction in Exposure To Various Liquids Which Affect Their Growth
GROWTH
ABSTRACT
This experiment is on plants and how different liquids can affect them. The purpose of this
experiment is to figure out why different liquids affect plants differently. To do the following
experiment you need to 1. Put three kinds of plant in each pot of nine pots 2. Label one pot A, one
pot B & one pot C 3. Water plant A with 1 ½ tbs. of diet drinks 4. Water plant B with 1 ½ tbs. of tap
water 5. Water plant C with 1 ½ tbs. of orange juice 6. Water and measure the plants each day. Too
many nutrients can make a plant die out. Some liquids with nutrients is orange juice. Orange juice
contains protein, which contains nutrients. If too many of these nutrients overlap, they can cause
the plant to die. This is the same with the milk. Sugar can affect plant growth too. Over expressing
Arabidopsis in plants reduces growth in plants. Due to hypertonic states of different liquids, some
juices and sodas can kill plants. This experiment will look at how soda, juice, and water will affect
the growth of plants. Orange juice do not kill plants like regular sodas do. To keep data on how tall
the plants grow and affect the growth of a plant each day we have been putting the heights of each
plant in centimeters on a chart and we count the branches and leaves of the plant. We check the
heights, number of leaves, branches each day and water the plants with their given amount of
liquids in the procedures. The liquids we are using are zero sugar sprite, tap water and orange juice.

Different liquids contain different additives that could potentially affect the growth of a
plant. This project will reveal how zero sugar, orange juice, and water affect the growth of plants.
Various research has been done that will support the problem of what liquid can stimulate the
growth of a plant more successfully. By measuring each plant after watering them with the three
liquids, we will be able to determine what liquid more positively affects the plants’ growth.
Variables
The hypothesis is that the plant watered with orange juice will grow taller, more leaves
and, branches and has a benefits/good for plants than the plants watered with sodas and water. By
observing the growth and benefits or detriment of 9 potted plants of the three different kind of
plant being watered with 3 different liquids to see which plant grows more and which solution has a

and measuring them and observing daily we will prove or disprove our hypothesis. Specifically the
research has the following objectives:

the plants.
