Fire Fighting Training

Objectives:
The purpose of this basic fire fighting training is to to give participants skills,
knowledge and experties that will enable them to identify the conditions capable of causing
fire, know how to use a firefighting equipment, respond appropriately to fire emergencies and
follow the fire plan, adequately implement fire emergency procedures.

Training

– PPE and SCBA Donning

Donning your personal protective equipment (PPE) may seem like a basic part of your
everyday response procedure, but it is a skill that must be practiced nonetheless. Each of us
gets into a regular routine getting equipment ready for the response and a set sequence of
steps allows you to wear your gear properly.

– Ladder Training

Ladders have a major role in the fire service. A member must be able to ascend and descend
from one level to another when performing emergency operation. Stairways are ordinarily
accessible, but sometimes they may be involved in fire or other hazards. Members must
therefore need to provide their own means of ascent or descent to upper floors, rescue,
rooftop operation , ventilation and fire stream operation may also require the extension and
proper placement. Fire service ladders demand close and coordinated teamwork.. The safety
of citizens and members depends on the ability to perform all operations,using established
and proper techniques.

– Fire Hose

This section contains the proper and techniques necessary for the loading and deployment of
both supply and attack lines used in the firefighting. These are among the most basic skills
and the foundation upon which all hose operations are built. A diligent study of these concepts
will aid in the development of the necessary confidence needed to work with a first line term.

– Agility Training

A Ability to change the body's position efficiently and requires the motor coordination of
isolated movement skills using a combination of balance, speed, reflexes, strength,
endurance and stamina.
The Firefighter's physical agility training consist of the following tasks over a timed
course:

Task 1 – Stair Climb with High Rise pack


Carry a high-rise stand pipe pack ( 2-50 foot section of 1 ½ inch hose weighing 50 lbs.) to the
third floor of the fire tower. Deposit the hose in the designated location. After

Task 2 - Hose Hoist


From a third story window, using a hand motion hoist a 50 foot donut roll of 2 ½ inch hose
(about 50lbs) connected by 5/8 inch rope.

Task 3 – Forcible Entry


using the Kaiser Force Machine, and a nine-pound hammer, drive a steel beam 5 ft.

Pick up the nozzle and move a 1 ¾ inch charged hose straight forward 75 feet
