Customer Care Notifications are intended to inform you of the availability of new hardware, software, and
special programs, product release information, training opportunities, and service-related information of a
non-technical nature.

Introduction

Schneider Electric is pleased to announce that the Foxboro EvoTM SCD6000 product line is now RoHS
compliant. This compliance allows us to continue to sell new systems into specific geographies where the RoHS
mandate is required after July 23, 2017. BuyAutomation will now include RoHS compliant I/O modules,
communication modules, and RTU I/O shelves.

This is a hardware revision, with no software modification.

What is RoHS?

RoHS, also known as Lead-Free, stands for Restriction of Hazardous Substances. RoHS was adopted in
February 2003 by the European Union and was recast (revised) as RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU(RoHS2).

Details

RoHS restricts the use of six hazardous materials found in electrical and electronic products:

Lead (Pb): < 1000 ppm

Mercury (Hg): < 100 ppm
Cadmium (Cd): < 100 ppm
Hexavalent Chromium: (Cr VI) < 1000 ppm
Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB)*: < 1000 ppm
Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE)*: < 1000 ppm

* PBB and PBDE are flame retardants used in several plastics.

This project ensures that Foxboro Evo products sold into the specific geographies below are compliant with the
RoHS directive. All products sold into these regions must be RoHS compliant by July 22, 2017:

• European Union countries

• Korea
• Turkey
• Japan
• State of California, USA

Why is this important?

RoHS compliance helps our customers be environmentally responsible and ensure their practices and facilities
are safe and sustainable. The restricted materials are hazardous to the environment, pollute landfills, and are
dangerous in terms of occupational exposure during manufacturing and recycling.

For Schneider Electric, RoHS compliance helps us promote sustainable, safe and responsible operations
and enables us to continue to do business in RoHS mandated regions.

How do the RoHS compliant & non-RoHS compliant products compare?

RoHS hardware will have R on the product manufacturing label.

Other than the label and part number, the RoHS-compliant products are an exact replacement in form, fit, and
function for the non-RoHS products that we have been building for many years.

These RoHS products meet the same regulatory standards and the same environmental, physical, and reliability
specifications as the existing non-RoHS products. The only change is the addition of ROHS compliance.

How do I order RoHS compliant products?

The RoHS compliant part numbers listed in BuyAutomation will be assigned a 'R' at the end of the part number.
For instance, the RoHS compliant ADI module will have the following part number, SY-0399160R. Existing I/O
shelves were previously RoHS compliant, so there is no change to those part numbers. Please see the updated
PSS documents attached for more information.

How Do I order RoHS compliant products?

The RoHS compliant part numbers listed in BuyAutomation will be assigned a 'R' at the end of the part number.
