This document appears to be an exam for a third year Electrical and Electronic Engineering class covering mechanical and energy engineering techniques. The four-question exam covers topics related to transformers, including: defining and explaining an ideal transformer; methods for cooling transformers; common three-phase transformer connections; impedance, current, and power calculations for an AC circuit with resistor, inductor, and capacitor; secondary voltages for delta-star and star-delta transformer windings; and calculations for primary voltage and power factor with a short-circuited secondary winding. The exam is signed by the lecturer and head of department, wishing students good luck.

Q1: Answer the following questions? (30 Marks)
A. Define and explain the Ideal Transformer? B. Explain the ways that can be used to cool the transformers? C. State the most common connections of three phase transformers?
Q2: (30 Marks)
A 60 resistor, a 0.6H inductor, and an 8µF capacitor are connected in series with a 220V, 50Hz AC source. Calculate: 1) the impedance for this circuit, 2) the current and 3) the active power.
Q3: (20 Marks)
A three phase transformer has 40 turns on the primary and 440 turns on the secondary winding. The supply voltage is 400V. Find the secondary phase voltage on no-load when the windings are connected, 1) Delta – Star, 2) Star – Delta.
Q4: (20 Marks)
The primary and secondary windings of a 30kVA 6000/230, single phase transformer have resistance (10) and (0.016) respectively. The reactance of the transformer referred to the primary is (34). Calculate the primary voltage required to circulate full-load current when the secondary is short-circuited. What is the power factor on short circuit?
GOOD LUCK!
