Assignment#2 – Raster to vector image conversion

Problem Definition:
Convert a rasterized portrait to vector of yours (girls may use alternates but verifiable). You can
draw out paths in photoshop. You need to create a vectorized approximation of an image
containing smooth transitions, using photoshop. The pen tool is the primary vector-based tool in
photoshop. It allows you to draw clipping paths. It provides you with a higher precision repeatable
method of selection. You need to made layers of solid color, adding a vector mask to restrict the
colors to certain areas, you could build a vector-looking image which could be easily replicated in
another vector application by copy/pasting the mask paths.
Don’t merge or rasterize your shape layers. As long as all your layers are shape layers then you
have a vector piece of art. That means you can scale the original .psd up and down in Photoshop
and it will remain perfect and unpixellated!! The final output will NOT BE a vector file (it will be
a rasterized .jpg/.jpeg etc.), to output a vector file you need to use Adobe Illustrator (which is not
needed at the moment).

Submit
A compressed file (containing .psd and final rasterized portrait) and a report is need to be
submitted on or before afore mentioned date (midnight). Length of report may extend from 1 to 2
pages. Please send an electronic copy at “Google Classroom” app under “CLASSWORK” tab
before the due date.

Remember: Late submissions will not be entertained.
