I.- Use factorization to solve the following quadratic equations:

a) x2 − 3x + 2 = 0
Look for common Factors: theres only one
Factor: x
Answer: x(x − 3) = 2

So there are two answers for the equation:

x=2
x=3

b) 5x2 = 20
Look for common Factors: theres no common factor
Factor: none √
Answer: x = 25

So there are two answers for the equation:

x=-5
x=5

c) x2 − 5 = 4x
Look for common Factors: theres only one
Factor: x
Answer: x(x − 4) = 5

So there are two answers for the equation:

x=5
x=4

d) 2x2 = 10x
Look for common Factors: theres only one
Factor: x
Answer: x(2x − 10) = 0

1
So there are two answers for the equation:
x=0
x=5

e) x2 + 19x + 60 = 0
Look for common Factors: theres only one
Factor: x
Answer: x(x + 19) = −60

So there are two answers for the equation:

x=-60
x=-79

f) 2x2 + x − 6 = 0
Look for common Factors: theres only one
Factor: x
Answer: x(2x + 1) = 6

So there are two answers for the equation:

x=6
x=5/2

g) 2x2 − x − 6 = 0
Look for common Factors: theres only one
Factor: x
Answer: x(2x − 1) = 6

So there are two answers for the equation:

x=6
x=7/2

h) 4x2 = 11x − 6
Look for common Factors: theres only one
Factor: x
Answer: x(4x − 11) = 6

So there are two answers for the equation:

x=6
x=17/4
