Reflection Essay for December 10 Seminar

This semester flew by. When classes started, there was uncertainty with completing

assignments. Working two jobs and attending school can be overwhelming. Thankfully, time

management allowed for work completion and on-time submittal. Attending class via zoom was an

enjoyable experience. It was better than I previously thought it would be. I am glad we are required to

have our cameras on. My kids' high school does not require the kids to turn their cameras on while

attending class via zoom. I cannot imagine teaching that way; you cannot see the expression on the

kids' faces. How would you know if they are comprehending or even paying attention?

December's seminar started with an exciting presentation by Dr. Mack regarding the Covid-19

vaccine by Pfizer. It will be interesting to see who the first 14,000 initial vaccine recipients will be in San

Diego County. I am sure we have more than 14,000 front line health care workers and seniors in nursing

homes. June 2021 cannot be here fast enough; It will be nice to finally be over this pandemic that has

caused so much havoc in our lives.

HISA participated in our zoom, giving us information on volunteer opportunities that allowed for

our social justice requirement. They also gave us the link to vote in new members to the board.

The class ended after a brief question and answer session. I asked about the social justice

requirement. I was unclear about some of the aspects of the requirement. My questions were

answered, and I was given information on where I can find follow up information in Blackboard. Ceejay

asked regarding the difficulty of the spring semester. His question was answered as well.

I'm looking forward to the break and will be ready to go in January when classes resume.
