Writing, the most important skill

Writing and reading make you progress, not only in school, but they help you at work

and, most importantly, in your daily life. To apply for a job or apply to a large university, it is

important to be able to express yourself in writing. Being yourself can benefit you, and that is the

easiest way to write. Furthermore, as you write, you can be inspired by something that happened

to you, an experience, a thought, or something that is constantly in your head. It is not difficult;

you just need to keep writing. This class has taught me many things as an international student. It

helped me in many aspects of my life as well as express myself with ease. In this article, I will

explain what I have learned during this process, my experience working with my peers, how I

developed my ideas, and what I have learned about writing with a purpose.

Writing means more than expressing what you think, is what you believe, what you

dream, what you want to inform, persuade, etc. In this class, I learned to better express myself,

but also, I feel it helped me to communicate better, to improve my grammar, and to make a good

Thesis Statement. On the other hand, it helped my critical thinking and to process the

information better, which will allow me to defend my point of view in any class. The last points

are the most important because a lot of critical thinking and research papers are needed during

college.

Reviewing the work of my colleagues helped me understand that if I could do it, that by

reading and analyzing the content, I could find errors and help them solve them. The feedbacks

also helped me a lot to correct my own mistakes, places where I thought it would be understood,

they possibly did not understand it, so it made me analyze better because, in the end, it is a

reading for the readers.

I learned that before writing, developing your ideas makes your work much easier.

Brainstorming helps you think and get more ideas, so that you have more options than you can

write down and develop. It is the most important step, and, in this class, I learned the tricks to

discover more ideas, with a better organization and a better goal for the project.

Finally, writing for an audience helps you express yourself better, it helps you have the

right vocabulary, you will know who you are writing for and who your potential readers will be.

An important part of writing is knowing if you are going to inform, persuade or teach to do so

with a clearer objective. It is important to know this point as the main one because with this the

structure of your entire essay, and how it is built.

Understanding the importance of writing can completely change the perspective of your

life. As they read you, they imagine you, if you are a person who writes badly, many people will

avoid knowing you. But if you write and speak properly, that is how they will imagine how you

are. In this course, I learned a lot about writing, but above all, I got to know myself in my

strengths and weaknesses that helped me correct my mistakes every day. However, it was a

challenge for me as an international student to reach the level of my peers. Either way, writing is

one of the most powerful tools in your professional life.
