CONVERSION OF FRACTION TO PERCENTAGE FORMS

INTRODUCTION:

Assalamualaikom student. In this module you will study and learn to express fractions to
percent forms.

OBJECTIVE: At the end of the module, you will learn to express fractions to decimals.

INSTRUCTION FOR LEARNERS

Please Read

Learner you need to answer first the Pre-Test before going to other activities. Do the
activities in order as they appear in this module. Read the directions for each activity and
answer them in your worksheet.

PRE-TEST

LEARNING ACTIVITIES

TRY TO DISCOVER!
WHAT IS FRACTION?

FRACTION – is one or more of the equal parts into which a whole is divided (or simply a ratio of
two numbers). There are two parts of fraction, the numerator and the denominator with a
horizontal or slanting line between the two numbers.

PERCENT – is an expression indicating the number of parts taken from a hundred. Literally,
“per cent” means by, or, on the hundred. Instead of saying “hundredths” we often use the term
4
per cent. For Example or 0.4 may be written as 4%.

To change fraction to per cent, change the fraction first to its decimal equivalent, then
move the decimal point two places to the right and affix the per cent sign.

Steps in Converting a Fraction to Per cent:

1. Convert the fraction to decimal

2. Multiply by 100.
3. Add the per cent sign to the number.

PRACTICE EXAMPLE:

Write the following fraction as equivalent percentages:

1
a. 4

Solution:
1
Write as a decimal by performing the division:
4

Move the decimal point two places to the right and add the per cent sign:

1
Thus,
4

1
b. 200

Solution:
1
Write as a decimal by performing the division:
200

Move the decimal point two places to the right and add the per cent sign.
