Teaching Guide Outline

Introduction
1. Prayer
2. Attendance
3. Goal Setting – The goals of the discussion are going to be presented to the class.
Motivation
The students are going to make a humorous pie chat meme. They may choose any funny or light topic. After
making their respective pie chart memes, they will share it to each other. Each of them will put his/her pie chart
on a one-fourth sheet of paper.
The students will have a short sharing of their pie charts.
Instruction Delivery
The teacher will inform the students of the existence of the many graphics/visuals. The following will also be
highlighted during the discussion:
 Visuals are essential components of a research that simplify complex information.

The following supplementary information may be incorporated during the discussion of the concepts:
 Histogram is a graphic representation which shows the frequency of occurrences in a data set.
 Scatter plot shows how much one variable is affected by another.
 Time series graph is a graph used to show patterns and behaviour in data over a period of time.
There will also be a discussion of the situations when these respective visuals and graphics are going to be used.
The advantages and disadvantages in the use of those graphics or visuals are also going to be discussed.
Practice
The students do the activity on page 222.
Enrichment
The students do the activity on pages 223-227.
Evaluation
The students are going to be given an exam presented in MS Powerpoint. The exam contains graphics and
visuals and questions are being asked towards those respective graphics and visuals. There is a part in the exam
where the students are going to interpret those graphics and visuals and put their answers on a sheet of paper.
Valuing
In the fields of research and academic writing, the ability to create and use graphics/visuals allows the
simplified presentation of data. It entails that one should learn to be adept with the said skill. Furthermore, there
is a need to be very careful so as to present the required and necessary data. It always pays a lot to be careful not
just even in the field of research but also in the field of life.
