PLANT AND MACHINERY SAFE OPERATION NORMS FOR CGPL – MUNDRA

CRITERIA FOR MOBILIZATION

1. Equipment Age – Not more than 5 years of age.

2. Operator Experience & Age

a. He should have experience of operating similar machines for more than 5 years (Proof required)
b. He should be medically fit.
c. Operator should have valid necessary License (Subject to online verification)
d. Operator Age should be between 21 year to 55 years

3. Statutory documents (RTO) for Tyre Mounted equipment (Online verification will be done for
Authentication)

a. Valid Registration certificate

b. Valid Fitness certificate
c. Valid MV tax of current state.
d. Valid Insurance
e. Valid PUC
f. Valid Permit

4. Statutory Documents for Crawler Mounted equipment’s

a. Valid Purchase Invoice copy

b. Valid Insurance

Note : Plant and machinery will be inspected at the gate before making entry inside the premises,
without fulfilling the above requirement gate entry is not permitted.

CRITERIA FOR SAFE OPERATION IN PROJECT PREMISES

1. Equipment Fitness Issuance (safe for operation Green tagging and Unsafe/Unfit for operation Red
Tagging)

Based on the below requirements, the safe for operation Green tag will be issued and allowed to
operate. Below are the safety device requirement ,these should be installed and functional for
24x7,failing to comply will be tagged as unfit/Unsafefor operation and will not be allowed to operate
until complied.

a. Reverse Horns
b. Reverse Camera
c. Swing horns (as applicable )
d. Dump body alarm (For Dumpers)

 e. Automatic Safe Load indicator ASLI (For all types of cranes)
f. Anemometer (For All types cranes)
g. Depth Meter (Piling rigs)
h. Anti Fall Safety Device (Materials and Passenger Lift/Hoist)
i. Lights and Indicator (Front and Back for All equipment’s)
j. Fire extinguisher inside the operator cabin
k. First aid box with required medicine inside the operator cabin

Apart from above, During Inspection (Daily /Weekly/Monthly) following will be inspected before
issuance of safety fitness

a. Brake Function
b. Tyre condition
c. Track condition
d. Required RTO paper onboard
e. TPI/Competent person certificate (Gujarat only) displayed on cabin.
f. Daily Checklist to be maintained by operator and to verified with TPL.
g. LOTO/Positive isolation procedures to be followed for any kind of Maintenance activities.

2. Lifting Gears (Wire rope slings,Web slings,Shackles,Chain pulley,turn buckles,Mech.Jacks,etc.,)

a. Should have valid competent person certificate as per Gujarat State DISH.
b. Tagging & Colour coding to be done as per TPL safety policy
c. Inspection checklist to be maintained
d. Defective Lifting tools and tackles will be discarded /ceased from site use.

CRITERIA FOR ELECTRICAL OPERATIONS

1. All electrical operations to be executed through licensed electrical competent person only.
2. Electrical Panels Protection– Minimum protection rating should be IP55.
3. Electrical Safety Device – All power connection should be through MCCB/RCCB (ELCB banned) .
4. Welding Machines – VRD type or Invertor Type machines are mandatory, all other type of welding
machines are banned for use.
5. Earthing for all panels and equipment’s to be maintained with proper checklist and registers.
6. LOTO/Positive isolation procedures to be followed for any kind of Maintenance activities.

Note : Contractors/Sub Contractors are advised to follow all of the above requirement for safe and
Smooth Mobilization & operation of plant and machinery in project premises. Above criteria are
subject to change with new development/Learning’s.
