The Bonfire in the cold night

SCENE 1
The irony of grief is that the person you need to talk to about how you feel is the
person who is no longer around. The story is about 5 lives whose life changed
completely because of certain events and had to suffer pain and grief, but because
they were together, they found comfort in each other’s company.
It's been a few months down the line Ronny, the dog won against Tom. Although
Ronny had the freedom to go anywhere and everywhere on the streets, he didn’t
have the will to. His dog family passed away due to ill health. He was all alone
now; his only best friend was Ravi who comes to play with him for 15 to 20
minutes every day. Ravi was really concerned about his cute little doggy friend but
because of his hectic work life he knew he would not be able to take complete care
of Ronny. On the other hand, Ravi's sister Shalini was also alone as she lost her
beloved Karna some days back. Ravi empathetically thought of solving the two
issues simultaneously. He gifted Ronny to Shalini. It was the first time after
Karna’s death; Shalini had a smile on her face. In this way, Ronny found a
permanent home and Shalini found a new best friend, the one she could lean on,
the one with whom she can share all her stories. Though she knew that no person
could replace Karna but who knew a dog could give her the warmth and love that
Karna used to give her.

SCENE 2
Since Shalini was a business administration graduate, she felt that it would be ideal
to move on and focus on her career. Shalini started looking for a suitable job and
also started working on a start-up idea. One day when Shalini was at an expo, she
met an amazingly brilliant boy, that boy was none other than Tanmay. Our smarty-
pants Tanmay was looking for an investor for his creative start-up idea. Look at the
miracle of the world! Shalini not only guided Tanmay with the right resources for
finance, she also took it on herself to develop Tanmay's start-up. This way Tanmay
could also prove his father that he is capable of doing things.
Shalini tried to contact some companies for their start-up idea when one day she
got a message from a US based firm to try their start-up and if that start-up was a
success, both Shalini and Tanmay would get a chance to work there and expand
their idea. Tanmay however convinced his father to let him go to US as Shalini
made sure to look after all his finances. On their flight to US Tanmay made a
friend, which was none other than Arjun. Arjun was on his way to US to get
treatment for his legs. As Arjun and Tanmay had no other friends, they made sure
that they’ll remain in contact once they reach US and Tanmay promised Arjun that
he’ll go visit Arjun at the Hospital during his treatment. They rented a house in the
Sherman Oaks neighbourhood. It was the same neighbourhood where Ryan lived
with his mother. Though Ryan and his mother were going through a tough time
dealing with his father, the family made sure to make Shalini, Ronny and Tanmay
feel like family and even helped them shift.
Shalini found a friend in Ryan and would also talk to him about her past. Ryan's
mother considered Shalini and Tanmay as her own children and would cook Indian
delicacies for them. His mother would spend all her day with Ronny because
everyone else had to go to office and what better than having someone’s company
even if it is a dog. Ryan used to spend his evenings playing with Ronny by taking
him out to different parks. Also, as Ryan worked in a good company, he used to
help out Shalini and Tanmay in their start-up ideas. All three of them along with
Ronny would go visit Arjun in the Hospital and would spend quality time with
each other. All of them had one thing in common and that was pain, the pain of
losing their loved ones, the pain of losing oneself, they would find comfort in each
other’s company, they had their own little family. Ryan used to share things about
his father to Shalini, he used to cry in front of Shalini talking about how his father
tries to abuse his mother and threatens to kill her if they refrain themselves from
giving him money. He knew he had no other choice but to tolerate all the actions of
his father.

SCENE 3
It was Tuesday afternoon, where everyone was at work and Ryan’s mother was
alone with Ronnie doing her everyday chores, where out of no where Ryan’s father
broke into his house, high on drugs. He started abusing Ryan’s mother, though she
cried for help there was no one in the neighbourhood except for Ronny, but what
could a small dog do in front of such a huge man. Ronnie barked his lungs out, he
also tried to save Ryan’s mother, but he was unsuccessful. When she was
struggling to get hold of things in her hands, she saw Ryan coming from behind.
Ryan had a vase in his hands, he didn’t know what he was doing, he smashed the
vase right into his father’s head, and there he was all covered in blood, awfully
shocked, shivering in fear as he had killed his own father. He started blabbering
with fear, he knew that he’s now going to serve jail time and his future is over but
his mother convinces him that they can take care of the body without anyone
knowing. Ryan was against this decision and was very firm to go the police but a
mother would never let his child go through pain and so was Ryan’s mother. She
did everything she could in order to convince Ryan not to go to the police. Ryan
and his mother very carefully cleaned their house, making sure there’s no blood
drops and put the body, covered in a jute bag on the back seat of the car. Ronnie
was there sitting on the floor watching all this havoc happening but what could a
dog do, except for barking.

SCENE 4
It was the 31st of October, Halloween day and Ryan knew that it was that time of
the year where bonfire is made as a part of the tradition and it was the right
opportunity to get rid of that body. Ryan invited all his friends even Shalini,
Tanmay and Arjun. He wanted to tell Shalini about what had happened but he
didn’t want her to get caught in this dark secret of his and his mother. As Ryan and
his mother was taking care of the bonfire, he placed the jute bag with his father’s
body inside it in the fire. There were huge flames coming out of the fire and people
were just laughing and enjoying the heat. The entire neighbourhood were relishing
the bonfire night except for Ryan and his mom because they were the only one
who knew that there was a dead man inside the fire and all of neighbourhood was
enjoying his FUNERAL.
