Unit 1: What Do You Like?

Aims and Approaches

The aims focus on the students’ lifestyle of what they like to do based on the students
likes and dislikes refer to their free time activities. For the activity in this textbook like
quizzes, which students have to listen and repeat the words that highlighted in blue. The
second activity, the students have to do the quiz and look up at their scores. Then, the third
activity is they have to match the adjectives to the adjectives opposite which is given in the
textbook’s first chapter.

Second part of this chapter is “express yourself” and students have to work in pairs to
complete the activity. There are also other activities in this unit like in dialogues forms, fill in
the correct answer after listening to the audio and interview questions. The content sequenced
by its unit, vocabulary, grammar, reading, listening and pronunciation, integrated skills,
writing, digital competence, and external exam trainer. For each of the content sequence has
its own usefulness and it is divided properly for the learning of the content.

The reading texts in this unit always comes with a picture so the students can imagine
and understand the texts from their point of view as the texts usually describes and would
help the students understand better. The layout is clear and easy to understand for the teachers
and students as it is equipped with vivid visual aids that help students become more involved
in learning and visualizing the information during the lesson.

Design and Organization

For the structure, the content is filled with activities based on the topic’s theme which
is integrated to the learning objectives which is based on the language skills. The learners
expectation can be seen in an English course. The organization is right for the learners and it

Unit 2: Fact or Fiction?

Aims and Approaches

The aims focus on literature, students have to look at literacy genre listen and repeat
the genre written. Then they will have to complete the comments with words from the first
exercise. They will have to again listen and check. For third exercise, students have to match
the definitions with words from exercise one. There are five questions which are definitions
of genres, after that students have to write which book they would like and why? This is
under the category of writing exercise for the students. After they write they will have to
make notes of the book they choose.
In this unit it is more to listening, reading, answering and writing. Since this unit is
more to facts and fiction, maybe not all the students will enjoy this chapter. The material
suited to the learning and teaching situation.

students’ knowledge and enrich their experience.

The aims focus on weather. Students have to listen and repeat different kinds of
weather. Then in the second activity, students have to look at the picture and tell what the
weather is like. Next, activity three they have to explain what the weather is like in which
city, moving on to the fourth activity students have to read about the weather in the countries
and change the highlighted words to make the sentences true for their country (Malaysia).

Later, they will have to write down the kind of activities to do according to the weather this
activity is in pairs. There are also activities like news report, grammar, natural disaster
vocabulary and many other activities related to weathers.
