Discuss the bid process including where to get the bid information and how to decide to bid.

The bid process is a flow or algorithm that consists of the several processes from obtaining
bid information to submission of bids and complete bid report. This is a process done by the
contractor to prepare detailed estimate for bidding. To bid the contractor needs to obtain the bid
information. The source of bid information can be in form of public bids or private bids. There are
different kinds of bidding that a contractor can join in, such as open bidding, construction
associations, closed bidding, prequalified bids, construction news service, and marketing. As long
as one qualifies or invited to the bidding, the contractor is to decide whether to bid or not to bid.
The deciding factor for the contractor whether to bid or not to bid is immediate after obtaining the
information of the bidding. Since this information would provide the contractor the details of the
project, whether the contractor can accommodate to do the project. The contractor would consider
factors in their bid decision, such as type of project, Size and the rough estimate of the contract
value, location of project, quality of drawings and specification, reputation of the owner and
designers, specialized work, anticipated problems in construction, safety consideration, need for
the work, and bonding capacity. If the contractor decided not to pursue the bidding, thus end the
process. However, if the contractor wishes to pursue to bid, the contractor must follow the process
acquiring and reviewing bid documents, then provide an estimate for the project. In estimating the
project, the contractor must consider the subcontractors, the site and the takeoff quantities to price
own work. After consideration of the following the contractor is to review ad summarize to prepare
the bid. The total value of the estimate of the contractor would be submitted as bid and completing
the bid process by the complete bid report.
