Technology The University Of Lahore Engine: A machine for converting thermal energy into mechanical energy
Types (with respect to stroke)
1) Four stroke engine 2) Two stroke engine
Four stroke engine:
It is an engine which the piston moves four times two upward and two downward movement in one cycle of power stroke is called four stroke engine.
Two stroke engine:
The engine in which the piston does two times motion to produce a power stroke is called two stroke engine. Difference between 2 stroke and 4 stroke engine
4 stroke engine 2 stroke engine
One power stroke for two One power stroke for one crankshaft revolutions crankshaft Engine is heavy engine is light More thermal efficiency consumes Less thermal efficiency consumes less oil more lubricating oil Less noisy Noisier Complicated lubricating system Simple lubricating system Fuel efficient and complete burning Mixing of fuel with exhaust gases fuel and less efficient
