Music lesson Plan

Title: ​Alligator 

Grade 3

Procedure:

Anticipatory set and closure

A.S: ask them “Who here has heard of an alligator before?”

1. Say “I know that alligators can seem kind of scary with their big mouths and

pointy teeth, but in my song they are actually our friends.”

2. Sing the chorus of the song

3. Alligators are actually really important to us all. Does anyone know why?
4. Give the following answer (and show corresponding pictures)

○ They maintain other animal populations and keep them under control

○ Alligators make nests in the soft mud. This creates holes and large depressions

that become filled with water. These large alligator-created “puddles” become

home to all sorts of small reptiles and fish and become birdbaths and drinking

spots

5. Learn the chorus with the motions. (one of the teachers does both parts using the rote

6. Sing the first verse (shoes) with teachers singing call and students sing response. have

7. Tell the students that although we need these animals in the world, the american

alligator is currently a threatened species.
