2. Make a STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM for your proposed title (15 PTS)

The study aims to determine the conflicts of cultural beliefs of the

people from Brgy. Laoag Aguilar Pangasinan in managing their overall
health. Result of the study will serve as a basis in formulating strategies
and activities that can be use in the community or other places to
promote proper health management and:
Specifically, it seeks to answer the following questions
1. What are the common cultural beliefs of the people that affects their
health management their health?
2. What strategies can be proposed to enhance or modify these beliefs
that can actually help in their health management without
disrespecting the integrity of their culture?
3. What MODEL, THEORY OR FRAMEWORK will you use? (5 PTS)

The Health Belief Model (HBM) is a behavioral health theory used

in professional nursing practice. A behavioral health theory is a
combination of knowledge, opinion, and actions taken by an individual
or group in reference to their health. This particular theory is
intrapersonal, meaning that it is based on the knowledge and beliefs of
each individual person. The HBM is used to develop preventative health
programs, as well as design appropriate intervention programs where
prevention has failed.

The researcher will use the theory of Health Belief Model by social
psychologists at the U.S. Public Health Service as the framework of their
study. The issue includes the conflicts of their cultural beliefs towards in
managing their health. The model can provide support or can be use as
justification in explaining how these cultural beliefs affects people health
management. The model will be use also to determine different factors on

their beliefs that causes them to neglect benefits for their health just to
follow the integrity of their beliefs.

4. What RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS will you use? (10 PTS)

Qualitative research will be the design that the researchers will use
for the study. As qualitative approach is used to describe experiences
and situations from the perspective of persons in the situation (Creswell
and Poth, 2018). The method will be use by the researchers is Grounded
theory research, explores how people define reality and how their beliefs
are related to their actions (Mead, 1934).

The researchers will use these design and method because in

research design the researchers will analyze the words from the
participant and provide meaning to that statements. Qualitative research
can generate rich descriptions of the experiences of the participant in the
study.

5. What SAMPLING METHOD will you use? (5 POINTS)

The sampling method the researchers will use will be the

Purposive sampling, the researchers will select the participants
consciously to be included in the study. The researchers will include
participants purposively by choosing them according to the designated
age the researchers will provide.

6. Who are your SAMPLES? TARGET POPULATION AND ACCESSIBLE

POPULATION (10 PTS)
The samples will include the people of Brgy. Laoag Aguilar
Pangasinan. The target population includes the older adults from 60
above years of age that can still answer basic questions and lived to
Brgy. Laoag Aguilar Pangasinan for 50 years. And the accessible
population includes 30 older adults that met the inclusion criteria
provided by the researchers.
7. What are your INCLUSION CRITERIA? (10 PTS)
Inclusion criteria includes older adults from 60 above years old, Can
answer basic questions, and lived to brgy. Laoag for 50 years.
8. What are your EXCLUSION CRITERIA? (10 PTS)
The exclusion criteria includes older adults from 60 above years old but
cannot answer questions anymore and they didn’t spend 50 years to
Brgy. Laoag.

9. What ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS will you include

? (15 PTS)

Researchers will include ethical consideration of each respondent, as it

will affect their personal information which should be valued and not shared
with others as privacy and safety. They should also prioritize their right to
their wishes or opinions. This also includes voluntarily providing data
without forcing the respondent, they also have the right to know about the
research to be done and above all the right to choose.

Based on the said rights of the respondent must be respected, in order to

obtain such research results to be conducted. This will describe the overall
results of the research to be conducted including behaviors from the
rejection and acceptance of respondents also to be included in the research.
The researchers will apply ethics to the study.

10. Make your step-by-step DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE (15 PTS)

The data will be collected by the use of face-to-face interviews with
the key informants. First a consent form will be given to the Brgy.
Officials and to the key informants. Upon approval, the request letters
and consents will be retrieved by the researchers.
In collecting the data, the researchers will interview the key
informants one by one with the same concepts of questions that will
determine the factors on their beliefs that causes conflicts on managing
their health. If the researchers interview all the key informants.
Then all the data that will be collected will analyze by the
researchers and provide meaning to the data that will be collected.
