TOPIC-
Saving Energy At School
“How to save energy at school?” is a simple question with a complex
answer. Most schools use a lot of electricity to ensure the facility is safe,
secure, comfortable and conducive to learning for students.
Teachers can consider energy-saving efforts in school as an option to work
with students. The children in class can help come up with innovative ideas
to save electricity at school.
Getting children involved in energy-saving processes at a young age
encourages responsibility and jump starts a lifetime of environmental
consciousness.
Pawar Public School in Chandivali-Andheri East exhibits an infrastructure that
is truly impressive. Windows wide enough to allow ample amount of light and air
flow for cross ventilation and furniture that encourages students to hold a good
posture, are some of the many elements that facilitate a healthy learning
environment for the students. There are a total of 2,005 students in our school.
Other than the well structured classrooms, the
establishment holds under its roof multiple
activity spaces. There is constant
encouragement to engage in physical activities
so as to help the students gain an all round
enhancement.
Club Enerji, Tata Power's nationwide energy and resources conservation movement,
has been constantly working with children towards spreading the message of being
responsible citizens by saving electricity, natural resources, and promoting better
societal habits across the country. In line with this commitment, the students associated
with Tata Power Club Enerji from Pawar Public School, Chandivali accompanied by
their teachers undertook major awareness steps towards energy conservation and
saving environment.

During this pandemic situation, though the school remained
closed for the pupils and the teaching staff, the security and the
housekeeping staff who visit the school regularly to clean and
sanitize it, keep saving energy as they used to, prior to the
pandemic. The measures stated are still being used even in this
pandemic situation.
TOPIC-

These measures would have no use if they
are not implemented. Hence our school
expects the students to implement these
energy saving methods in our daily life
inside and outside of the school. Due to
this current pandemic situation, we have
got a golden opportunity to save
maximum energy because we are staying
at home 24/7.

Change Televisions to Flat and LCD Screens:
Light bulbs aren’t the only fixture that can help you
reduce school energy uses. Another consideration

monitors. Schools depend on screens for writing and
viewing educational materials. Older, larger
televisions use substantially more electricity than
smaller, modern screens.

recyclable, but don’t always act on that
knowledge. Encourage kids to do their
part by creating a point system for
recyclers, or assign extra credit
projects focused on recycling and
environmental impact.

Turn Off Lights and All Screens:
Too many schools leave lights on for hours after
class. Taking the time to power down these
computers each afternoon can do a lot to reduce
your power usage.

Close Unused Rooms and Spaces:

Closing off certain rooms by shutting doors can also reduce the amount of
resources you’re wasting on making an unused space comfortable, despite no
students available in that arena.

How Can Methods Of Saving Energy Be Brought to
Peoples Attention
Methods of saving energy can be brought to people’s
attention at school by conducting informational seminars
that teach and guide the students appropriate ways of
saving energy and using electricity consciously at school.
The students will properly realise the value of saving
energy when its advantages are taught to them. They
should also be encouraged to learn about saving energy on
their own.

Uniting people through street plays, rallies and walks
is an efficient method of spreading awareness about

Competitions, like essay writing and poster making, can also be
held in the school with prizes awarded to students who have
expressed their creativity skilfully. The competitions can have the

Students with seemingly high potential can be appointed to
instruct, inform and encourage the others to save electricity and
clubs can be formed keeping the same goal in mind. This initiative
will be useful in encouraging all the members of the school to
work towards reducing the carbon footprint generated by them.
