Ex-Energy Chief shoots self in front of mother's grave, dies at Quirino Hospital

MANILA, Philippines - Former Energy Chief Angelo Reyes was reportedly shot in the chest.
Reyes was rushed to the Quirino Hospital in Quezon City and reports have it that he died at
around 8:30 a.m. He was 66. He is survived by his wife and 5 children.

UPDATE: Reyes was reported to have committed suicide. According to the EPD, Reyes visited
his mother's grave at the Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina City where he shot himself on the
spot.

A preliminary showed that Reyes had bullet wound in the heart.

As per the Quirino Hospital sources, they tried to revive Reyes for 45 minutes before declaring
him as expired.

Labis umanong nasasaktan ngayon si dating COA auditor Heidi Mendoza sa mga naging
patutsada sa kaniya ng kasamahan sa Commission on Audit (COA) dahil sa kaniyang mga naging
testimonya sa nangyayaring katiwalaian sa hanay ng militar.

Kaugnay nito, humihingi ito ng paumanhin sa kaniyang mga nasasaktan at iginiit na kaniya
lamang isinakripisyo ang kaniyang sarili upang ihayag ang katotohanan at nalalamang anomalya
sa hanay ng AFP.

Dahil dito, nakiusap na lamang ang testigo sa Senate blue ribbon committee na hindi na lamang
ito dadalo sa Lunes sa pag-resume ng pagdinig ng Senado hinggil sa nabunyag na anomalya sa
sandahang lakas ng bansa.
"Hindi ako umaayaw sa pagtestigo. I come with clean hands. I am not perfect, humihingi po ako
ng paumanhin, kung pwede huwag nalang maging resource person. Ang dami ko nang
nasakripisyo dito on may private capacity," ani Mendoza.

Muling iginiit nito na hindi ito natatakot sa COA at maging sa AFP kungdi nais lamang umano
nitong maging malinis ang takbo ng ahensiya at magkaroon ng malinis na gobyerno at umaasang
magkaroon ng reporma sa gobyerno.

Samantala, umaasa pa rin ang mga senador na magbago ang panindigan ni Mendoza upang
maging resource person sa darating na Lunes kasunod ng pangako ni Sen. Teofisto Guingona III
na nakahanda silang bigyan ng proteksiyon at seguridad dahil kanila naman umano itong
nirerespeto at nauunawaan.

Joint operatives seize 20M worth of Illegal Drugs

           Case for violation of Republic Act 9165 was filed in court against certain Ramil
Saan and 3 others following the implementation of a search warrant that resulted to the
confiscation of 20-million worth of suspected Shabu and Drugs Paraphernalia from a
suspected Shabu Laboratory at 3rd Block, Naval Subdivision, Barangay San Isidro,
General Santos City.

             Joint operatives of General Santos City Police Office, led by PSINSP NELSON
C PABALINAS, Chief Intelligence, together with the elements from RIU 12 led by
PCINSP NEPTALI YORDAN, Regional Chief Intelligence and of PDEA 12 led by IA5
YOGI FILEMON L RUIZ, Regional Director swooped down said laboratory on October
20, 2010 at about 10:25 o’clock in the morning.

             The operatives were able to seized laboratory equipments, assorted controlled
precursor and essential chemical (CPECS), and more or less 300 grams of suspected
methamphetamine hydrochloride commonly known as shabu with a total estimated value
of 20Million Pesos.

             Among the four suspects only one (1) was positively identified as a certain Ramil
Saan who is at present remains at-large. However, case is being prepared against him
and his cohorts. Meanwhile, Confiscated items are place under the custody of PDEA 12.

             PCSUPT (ATTY) GIL C MENESES, RD, PRO 12 applauded General Santos
City Police Office for the said accomplishment and further directs all PNP units to
strengthen its operations and intelligence monitoring so as to neutralized and bring to
court all perpetrators of illegal drugs.
