TOP 10 PLAYERS OF DARTS
1. PHIL TAYLOR
o Won his initial major trophy in 1990 and his final title in 2017,
and he positioned as number one within the world for the lion's
share of that time.

o Taylor's has 85 major titles, and that he is worthy of his status


as our undisputed best darts player.

o He has a sensational 16 PDC World Championship titles, and


his place in darts history is not set in stone.
2. MICHAEL VAN GERWEN
o He has an incredible 32 major PDC titles, and Van Gerwen enters most
tournaments as an odds-on favorite.

o This dart prodigy had already won the World's Masters by the age of 17.

o Prohibiting the Champions League of Darts, he has won every


competition at least twice and is just 28 years old.
3. RAYMOND VAN BARNEVELD
o He won four BDO world titles in just seven years.

o After winning BDO world titles in a seven-year stretch, Van Barneveld


made a choice to switch to the PDC.

o In 2007, he beat Phil Taylor and had been labeled as the "greatest darts
match of all time."
4. ERIC BRISTOW
o Known on the stage as "Crafty Cockney."

o The equivalent of darts royalty in the 1770s and 1980s

o He won five World Masters titles and five World Championships


during a whirlwind decade.

5. JOHN LOWE
• He is a fantastic darts player who was at his best in the 70s,
80s, and early 90s. He won the World Championship in all three
of these decades.
• He was consistent and effective; two traits needed to be
successful in darts.
• His memorable moment was when he became the first man to
hit a nine-dart finish on the television in 1984.

6. GARY ANDERSON
o He is the greatest Scottish darts player of all time.

o He has two World Championship Darts final wins under his


belt, as well as two Premier League titles.

o At his best, Anderson is quite possibly the only player on the


planet who can outscore Van Gerwen.

7. DENNIS PRIESTLY
• He won two World Championships titles during his career but fell short
in the final four times – all four defeats coming from Phil Taylor.

• Priestly could have gone down as one of the top three players if not
had been for Taylor.

• Taylor and Priestly were the only players to average 100 or more in the
World Championship showpiece until Raymond Van Barneveld in 2007.

8. JOCKY WILSON
• He was one of the sport’s greatest personalities.

• An all-time favorite with crowds all over the United Kingdom.

• He is commemorated for his antics at the oche – this was an era


when players were granted to drink and smoke on stage.

• Wilson gained two world titles in 1982 and 1989.


9. MARTIN ADAMS
• He has played in the BDO for the majority of his darts
career.

• His choice not to switch to the PDC on a permanent basis


was heavily criticized.

• Adams was the superstar of his generation in the BDO. He


has an impressive three lakeside world titles.
10. ADRIAN LEWIS
• With roughly £3million procured in prize money.

• He became only the third man to maintain the PDC World


Championship back to back years after leading it for the
first time in 2011

• Lewis became the first player to ever hit a nine-dart finish


in the World Championship final.
