GRAND OPENING RESEARCH:
While researching about how to handle planning a grand opening for a small business, I came across
the article titled A Description of a Grand Opening by Luke Arthur. In this article, it mentions four things
that should be focused on when planning the event which is publicizing the event, planning a
memorable event, making the event visually appealing, and including promotions. The first topic it
talks about is how important advertising is for the grand opening. If you do not do enough advertising
& marketing, or if you do the advertising & marketing too late it can drastically decrease the rate of
the event being successful and people actually making plans to attend the event. Arthur also
discusses how important it is to make the grand opening stand out compared to the typical business
days to follow the event. To do this, it is important to encourage your customers to attend through
prizes, games, or anything else that will make the event memorable to the attendees. To make the
event visually appealing to people walking or driving by the event there should also be large balloons,
activities, or lights to grab the attention of people who don't already have intentions of going to the
event. The last topic mentioned in this article was promotions for the grand opening. Promotions are
helpful to generate larger sales and better introduction to the item you're selling because more
people will be willing to pay for half off goods than full priced items.

Princess Polly is opening up a brand new location in Downtown Athens! A grand opening
will take place for any local customers to visit the store and shop some great new deals!
There will be music, discounts, and other goodies for the lovely customers.
The event will take place on February 13, 2021 from 1:00 - 7:00 p.m.
Target audience: young women aged 16-30 located near Downtown, Athens. These
women should be in the marekt for the latest edgy and flirty trends ranging from $32-125.

for this event. The event is only to open

CEO: oversee all employee's and their responsibilities but largely the finanical manager and district
manager
Financial Manager: decide the estimated budget and source for funding the event
District Manager: work with CEO to secure a store location, hire staff, and provide assistance for
layout of event, decor, and any other help needed by other managers or team members
Scheduling Manager: identify employees available to work day of the event and weeks prior to the
event for preparation
Public Relations Team Manager: negotiates and works with sponsors before and during the event
Public Relations Team: put together invite lists, print and ship invites in the mail to potential target
customers
Marketing Team Members: media and print advertising and signage being posted on all social media
platforms as well as around the outside of the store
Event Coordinators & additional employees: set up and decorate the venue; gather food, beverages,
and other prizes/goodies for attendees; security and sales day of the event
