CQI ASSIGNMENT
1) Propose the roof and ground floor structural layout plan of the house by indicating all
the structural elements (All beams, columns and slabs). The ground floor slab should
be treated as suspended slab.
2) Based on structural layout plan proposed in (1), estimate the permanent and variable
action acting on beam D/1-5 for both roof and ground floor levels considering with the
followings data:

Slab thickness : 125 mm

Finishes (floor) : 1.20 kN/m2
Roof system, services and ceiling : 1.00 kN/m2
Variable action (floor) : 1.50 kN/m2
Variable action (roof) : 0.75 kN/m2
Ground beam size : 150 mm x 500 mm
Roof beam size : 150 mm x 400 mm
Unit weight of concrete : 25 kN/m3
Brickwall height : 3000 mm
Brickwall weight : 2.6 kN/m2

3) By using moment distribution method (modified stiffness) analyse the ground beam
D/1-5 and sketch the shear force and bending moment diagram envelopes of the beam.
