• Special needs –Needs to be adaptable for holiday and seasonal decorations. Possibly a designated
space for a dog crate/bed.
• Lifestyle – Work away from home most of the day and at home mainly during the evenings and
the weekends.
• Hobbies – Social gathering outside the home with friends and family. Traveling out of town.
Cooking for friends and family.
• Favorite colors – Light orange and light green.
• Entertain guests with dinners and social gathering every month or so as well as the occasional
holiday (Thanksgiving and Independence Day).
Client Profile
- Space Information:
• Space to be designed – Main Level Living room (approx. 20’x11’)
• Daily activities for space – Entertainment center/television usage. Social gatherings.
Relaxation/reading.
• Desired Style – neutral greens with accent colors to create interest and excitement. Linear organic
pattern to create another layer of intrigue. Desired point of emphasis is the fireplace/mantle in the
north west corner of the space.
• Special notes – Busy lifestyle which generates above average amounts of soil. Minimal natural light
sources. Bright efficient light is desired to provide a sense of openness.
• Problem Statement – furniture arrangement, color, type, and texture can be improved. The walls are in
need some sort of accent as to compensate for the lack of glazing. Owners desire a multipurpose
function of the space (a space for entertainment and a space for relaxation).
Design Program
• Clients: Middle aged married couple. No special heath or personal needs are needing to be met by the design.
Enjoy entertaining small groups of friends and using reading to relax.
• Design Concept: The clients are both very imaginative people with a love of the forests. Their favorite time of year
is when the leaves just begin to change color because the change users in a sense of newness. They want to be able
to feel the forest around them as they open the window and feel the aroma of the neighboring plant nursery.
• Colors and Materials: The client dislikes the “cookie cutter” look with the matching furniture sets. The still want
cohesiveness in color and texture but with a certain type of variance which captivates attention. Multiple textures
and patterns tied together using green and orange.
• Space Requirements: Two separate areas in the same space. Room for reading and relaxing and room for
entertainment and technology. Can be rearranged in order to function as one large space.
• Functional Analysis: Corner fireplace can function as a focal point to generate emphasis as well as serve as a place
for the flat screen television (Electrician may be needed). Only window in the space is facing north which is decent
for lighting but not much reflection is generated.
Floor Plan
Furniture
(upholstered items)

• Both the love seat and sofa backs old

down to create either a sleeper or
additional seating depending on the
occasion. Both pieces are made of a
chenille fabric (silk type of protein fiber)
fabric with a cotton backfill and
cushioning.
Solid Furnishings
• Dark wood surface with rough
metallic texture provides a sense
of sturdiness and creates a natural
yet industrial feeling into the
interior.
Fabric Selection
• The Green White Fabric to be
used as the widow treatment.
• The Orange throw pillow to be
used as an upholstered accessory.
The orange creates contrast with
the brown and green interior.
• The area rug to be placed under
the coffee table and the sofa to
incorporate the clients expressed
love for the fall season.
Finish Selection

• Luxury Vinyl flooring is already

in place in the interior.
• Colonial style of baseboard is
already in place in the interior.
• Wall treatment to be updated
to a mint green color.
