Executive summary
There are shown how to get prepared in student life for getting a handsome job in this
report. After defining the ideal job, the job description is briefly shown and then person
specification required for the job is given. It was tried to determine what skills and
qualifications are needed to prepare myself for getting my preferred job throughout the
report. What resources are available for me and how can I use them to be successful
are also shown here. Different websites and books was used for data collection. Proper
referencing has been done at the end of the report.

Introduction
In today’s competitive world, a good job is not so easy to get. Only a degree or a
certificate will rarely help in getting a good job nowadays. Many skills and experiences
are needed to get a good job. There are millions of graduate students all over the world
but all of them are not properly skilled and efficient. Therefore despite holding a
graduation degree, a student may not get a good job because of lack of skills. Students
acquire these skills and experiences from their universities which helps them in getting
their preferred jobs. Some of these are academic, and some of them are practical as
well.
In this report, the job description for the role of my ideal job, and a brief summary of
person specifications and how will I qualify for the job are given.

A) My ideal Job
As a business studies background student, I want to get a job in a reputed multinational
business company. To state specifically, I want to be an E-commerce manager of
Amazon. I think this is the job that will fit me well fulfilling my every requirement from a
job. My business knowledge will help me to achieve that job position. The reason
behind choosing manager’s job specifically is, I like to lead people and manage them,
and take new challenges every day. I like to make people work under my instruction and
observation. So I think management job is a perfect one for me. To talk about company,
Amazon is one of a few multinational companies which is well known and popular all
over the world. Besides, as it is an online business, working in this company seems
quite exciting to me. Through my student life, I will be trying to gain all the skills needed
to get my ideal job.

Job position: E-commerce Manager
Estimated salary: The average salary for an E-commerce manager is $70,000 as of
year 2015. But in a larger multinational corporation like Amazon, salary may exceed
$90,000 per annum.

 Duties and Responsibilities: An E-commerce Manager generally develops and
carries out all the strategic online marketing plans for a company on the internet.
E-commerce managers keep pace with concurrent issues regarding online
marketing process, market competition etc. Basically, most of the times their
work involves websites, internet, and social media. As an online business,
usually job schedule is not specified. Because people can interact any time, i.e.
in 24/7 nature. So the work time may be irregular. Their main tasks involves
advertising products through online media, collaborating with content developers,
web designing, market researching, employee recruiting, budgeting, supervising
and controlling online market division, and presenting the project designs to
upper management. Job outlook for this job position is strong enough because
most of the multinational companies as well as local ones are starting operating

 online. Beside these, an E-commerce manager have to maintain some other

Such as:
 Providing strategies regarding sales related insights, and standards to encourage
sales through online media.
 Providing framework for transferring social media into really profitable platform.
 Staying updated to every major security checkouts and payment procedures.
 Analysing different marketing related matrices to know the ups and downs of the
online marketing process.
 Staying updated to competing businesses and comparing products as well as
marketing process with competitors.
 Creating frameworks and providing proper directions to software developers,
copywriters, and graphic designers to keep carefully adhered them to

C) Brief summary of person specifications and how to qualify

for the job
Person Specification:
It is worth saying that a graduation degree is the first and foremost requirement for any
kind of good job. But there are many skills and experiences without which a person
could not expect a high profile job like my ideal one. Some basic skills are:
communication skill, computer skill, mathematical skill as well as extracurricular
experiences. A brief summary of person specification for my ideal job i.e. manager in
Amazon corporation is given below:
 Graduation in any business subjects (but marketing management, management
and information system or similar subjects are preferable);
 Higher level of job experience is needed for the post which means newbie
students would not get the job directly;
 Technical operational knowledge needed for market research and analysis;
 Efficiency in website designing management and E-commerce usability;

  Relevant sales qualification is preferable;
 Unique thinking pattern, unmatched research abilities, supervision, and problem
solving skills (E-Commerce Manager Job Description and Requirements, 2020)
 Efficiency in handling the demands of ever-changing technological implements;
 Good track record in practice and implementation of web merchandising and E-
retailing;
 Sound knowledge in devising sales enhancing strategies and possession in
unique consulting and quality assurance ability;
 Communication skills i.e. good writing ability and verbal communication skill are
must for a job like this;
 An overall technical understanding of social media and modern technologies is
really important (E-Commerce Manager Job Description and Requirements,
2020).
To sum-up, being an E-commerce manager of a multinational corporation like Amazon
requires creativity. A student must be creative with unique pattern of thinking and
problem solving. He should be able to take new challenges every day.

How I will qualify for the job:

As a business student, I am doing my BBA degree in a reputed university. I will compete
my degree and become a business graduate in three years. So the first requirement for
the job which is completing graduation will be done. Then I will get admitted in MBA
program in my university where I will be able to gather more practical knowledge in E-
commerce, marketing and management. Probably it will take two years. After that, I will
take internship in a multinational company for gathering some real life experiences. I
know that good communication skill is very important for the job. So I am practicing
English conversation with my friends. Besides, I regularly take part in debates, public
speaking, and other volunteering activities. I write in my personal blog to improve my
writing skill. I am a junior executive of a business club in my university. I take part
different extracurricular activities arranged by my university. I like to debate, play
football, organizing different programs, managing sudden challenges which help me a
lot to interact with people in effective ways and improve my troubleshooting abilities.

Also, I am taking an online IT course where I am able to learn various business topics
like principles of digital marketing, consumer psychology and buying behaviour etc.
These will help me a lot in getting my preferred job (Nesbit, 2003).
Resources available to me and how I will use them to facilitate my job finding
process:
I think there are two major types of resources to facilitate my job finding process. One is
online job board and the other one is LinkedIn.
There are different sites working as online job board. Some of them are traditional job
boards such as CareerBuilder and Dice. Also there are sites like Indeed, through
which one can search many job boards, associations, company career sites, and
other sources of job related postings. There are also some sites which focus on
certain types of job. For example, Idealist, Google for Jobs etc. These sites are
really helpful in job finding process (Top 10 Best Websites For Jobs, 2020).
LinkedIn is also a good medium for the job finding process. This is basically a social
media that is more professional and formal media than others which can be used as a
job finding media. There are four major ways to find job via LinkedIn. They are:
1) LinkedIn Job Board which contains many job offerings through advertisements;
2) News feed which needs to be regularly to get the latest job related posts;
3) There are different kinds of groups on LinkedIn like skill development groups,
industry or hobby related groups etc.
4) It also shows different company pages which help in getting directly connected to the
company websites. (Fertig, 2020). I have a LinkedIn account, so this media is available
to me.
Beside these my personal connection with people is quite good.
I am known to some reputed business personnel who could help me in my job finding
process. Then my business club can also help me in job finding. So I have got a lot of
resources to facilitate my job finding process.

Conclusion
Some specific skills and knowledges are needed to get a high profile job. I will be
achieving those throughout my student life. After completing my bachelor degree, I will
complete a master degree and an internship as well so that I can make myself ready for
the job. Being an E-commerce manager in a huge multinational company like Amazon
is not an easy task to accomplish. So I need to work very hard for sure. I am able to
work under pressure which I think is my best part. Apart from these, I have a passport
which will enable me to take part in oversea journeys. Also, I am preparing myself to
achieve good communication and other skills so that I can get my dream job. So, now I
am quite confident to make my dreams come true.
