and 750 deaths per year.

GIVEN: b= 1000
d= 750

Required: (r)

b= 1000/320,000 d= 750/320,000
= 0.003125 = 0.00234

r=b-d
= 0.003125 – 0.00234
= 0.00078 or 0.078%

The growth rate is 0.00078 or 0.078% per year.

2. Compute for the growth rate of a population of 1,000,000 having 12,000 births per
year, 5,000 deaths per year, 7,000 immigrants, and 15,000 emigrants.

GIVEN: REQUIRED: r
b= 12,000
d= 5000
i= 7000
e=15,000

SOLUTION:
b= 12,000/1,000,000 i= 7000/1,000,000
= 0.012 = 0.007

d= 5000/1,000,000 e= 15,000/1,000,000
