1. Conversation (4.

Az iskola)

Examiner:
We are going to talk about your school.
 Which school do you attend? Describe your school. I go to Trefort Secondary
School. First I went to vocational school and now I am taking the matura exam.
We have been learning here for two years.
 What does your school building and the classrooms look like? The school has three
buildings: one for the general subjects, one for vocational education and one for
workshops. They are new buildings.
 What kind of special classrooms and facilities does your school offer? We have a lot of
facilities if you learn a job here: all kinds of machines and computers. We have
interactive boards, too.
 Have you got a school canteen? Yes, we have. The food is okay here, but at home is
better.
 How many lessons, study circles, training sessions and private lessons do you have
a week? We have a lot of classes during the week, so we don’t have time to go to
other courses.
 What subjects do you study and what do you learn about during these lessons? We have
Hungarian, History, Biology, Maths, English, Physics.IT and PE
 What is your favourite subject? What are the subjects you don't like? I like IT and
PE, but I don’t like Maths, because I am not good at it.
 What else would you like to learn at school? We have a lot of classes, so it is enough for
me at the moment.
3. INDIVIDUAL LONG TURN (4. Az iskola)

The examiner gives the candidate the task sheet and the pictures. The candidate has 30
seconds to prepare.

School subjects
These pictures show different school subjects. Compare and contrast them. Include the
following points:
 subjects you have at school and what they cover
 subjects you would like to study at school
 the most popular subjects in your class
 your favourite subject(s) and the reason(s) why you like them

Prompts for the interlocutor:

 What subjects don’t you like? Why? Are they too difficult / boring for you?
 How many lessons do you have a day?
 Do you like learning foreign languages? Why (not)?
 What do you do during PE lessons?
We have a lot of classes at school, I think we have too many classes. So we have no time to study. We
study a lot of subjects: Hungarian, History, Biology, Maths, English, Physics.IT and PE. Maths
is a very difficult subject, so I am not good at it, I don’t like it. PE is my favourite, because I
like sports and physical activity. We play basketball and football and do exercise.
I don’t like learning languages, because it is boring to learn the words.
In Hungarian classes we read poems and novels and learn spelling. In maths we solve
exercises. In English classes we read in English and try to speak.

Schools
These pictures show different schools. Compare and contrast them. Include the following
points:
 facilities at these schools (rooms and equipment)
 where students can learn more
 your dream school
 your present school
Prompts for the interlocutor:
 Is your school well-equipped?

 What would your dream school be like?

 What do your school building and the classrooms look like?
 What kinds of special classrooms and facilities does your school offer?

In the pictures I can see a modern, well-equipped school and an old-style African school. In modern
schools you have a lot of opportunities, the whole world is in the classroom., if there is a smart
whiteboard and an Internet connection. So here the classes can be very interesting and the the students
can learn a lot.
But in the African school, there are not many opportunities. there are many students in a classthe
classrooms are dark and not well-equipped, the teachers are not very trained.
In a dream school I don’t have to learn, I go to school and I become cleverer.
Our school buildings are new, there are a lot of classrooms in them. In my school there are classrooms
which are workshops with special machines and tools.
