“A SAXOPHONE, A TUBA, AND TWO DRUM KITS COMBINE TO CREATE A

PIECE OF MUSIC THAT SOMEHOW CAPTURES THE WHOLE HISTORY OF JAZZ.”

By Mark Richardson. The article begins by discussing the instruments used and the

reason behind them. It will go into depth into how deep some of the notes are and the

reasoning with that choice of play. It will then roll into the significance of the piece and

how it fits on the other artist’s pieces of work for example all of the songs are about

Harriet Tubman and how great she was and she really was GREAT. Each song title in

the album represents a powerful black woman who inspired the band’s leader to make

music and pursue her dream which is awesome. The overall theme throughout the

article is one of history and passion for something they love which is jazz.

Another aspect of the article I rather saw was the use of instrument names and

what they did in the song. For example, the author would mention a saxophone and the

tone it gave off to further enhance the piece of music. Another thing is the use of heroes

a lot of the artist’s music is inspired by her heroes and it shows in her music. That is

generally what the article was about, thank you.
